ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Not even on the job for a full month, the handpicked Police Commissioner (CoP) Mr Richard Ullger is proceeding on vacation leave today, December 19, 2025. He is expected to return to the UK, according to a Government House source.

Mr Ullger's appointment had caused widespread protest after his pal, Governor Daniel Pruce, ousted the local qualified Acting Commissioner of Police, Ms Jacqueline E. Vanterpool, even after crime under her watch went down, and confidence in the police force was beginning to be restored.

Mr Pruce, a UK-appointed Governor, disregarded the recommendations of the Police Service Commission (PoSC), which voted against Mr Ullger's acting appointment and had recommended Ms Vanterpool for the CoP position.

Pruce not committed to law and order?

The governor, who seemed not to be committed to law and order and following the rules, was determined to move Ms Vanterpool because she allegedly challenged him when he continued to show no regard for the courts, law and order and the rights of residents and police officers.

Many residents remain suspicious of Mr Ullger’s appointment, and some claim he has an agenda and may be here to continue the witch-hunt of former CoP Mark Collins. The alleged witch-hunt involves bogus arrests and charges against residents who advocate for law and order and speak out against double standards, hypocrisy and victimisation, including of fellow police officers.

Is he seeking credit already?

Mr Ullger is expected to be back sometime in the first week of January 2026.

According to the same Government House sources, speaking to our newsroom on condition of anonymity, Ms Vanterpool will be acting CoP.

Social Media has said that Mr Ullger was claiming credit for a drug bust last week on a ship named ‘C Elizabeth II with more than 750 kilograms of cocaine, however, he had nothing to do with it.

It was reported to be a USVI Operation, and the perpetrators were chased in Virgin Islands waters, after which USVI authorities informed local law enforcement authorities.

More than likely those days were approved when he signed on for the job, but realistically speaking, the optics aren't good.

I am tired...absolutely tired of hearing about Richard Ullger. Jackie Vanterpool, the Governor and the UK when there are so many issues here in the BVI that are impacting the daily life of its people.
Just bought a new vehicle and is already looking to replace parts due to the conditions of our roads. Food prices and other cost of living are spiking daily.
Ullger met the Police Force the way it is and it is likely it will remain the same when he leaves.
Did he violate any policies or regulations ? If he did he should of course be held accountable.
V.E Malone once said "it doesn't matter who gets the credit as long as it makes the BVI a safer place"

Are we “duty-bound” to support interim Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) Richard Ullger? People, respect is a two-way street. He's only due the respect that he gives.

What is the process for earning vacation days in the RVIPF? How long does an officer be on the job before he/she can take vacation, medical emergency not withstanding? Is it a good look and personal example for CoP Ulillger , having being forced into the job by Gov Daniel Pruce, against the wishes of many BVI residents? Is it the attitude of the UK- appointed guv Pruce that he does not give a ..rat’s ass what the BVI people think, especially the locals? Is it the BVI fault for what is taking place , having agreed to give the Governor unilateral power, disguised power under the constitution? Is colonialism at play here, ie, control, exclusion, racial supremacy, special entitlement and privileges for colonialists at Mount Olympus, London? Are the appeasers with meritorious manumission beholden too and emboldened the colonialists to behave the way they are? Has Sir Winston Churchill quote on appeasers applicable here: “An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile hoping it will eat them last.” ? Has appeasers undermined local effort for greater autonomy? Is the disproportionate ratio of expatriates to locals, ie, 70:30, a contributing emboldened factor in the colonialists behavior and attitude?

That's stupid. As the Commissioner of Police he has something to with it whether or not he was directly involved. If it was something negative, he certainly would have been blamed.
Priest quoted one of our own and I like it. Whether or not Ullger has nothing to do with the drug bust it certainly will make the BVI a better place by sending a message to the drug lords

Many comments here are just out of order. Many of you have criminals living in your homes, knows what your children are doing and never let the authorities know anything. You just keep your mouth closed and crime keeps on and on. Stop pretending that you like the police force when many are of you hate the police.

why now, in the peak of the holiday season, where junior ranks would have been advised otherwise, with a recent murder and many unsolved. How could the Governor allow this?. Just came to a new environment, not yet aquainted. Should have taken his new assignment after, or there is a word name deferred, or later. It seems like is who you fa, get the edge.

So no one on here ever took up a new position but had plans for a certain time and negotiated time off for those plans. I took up a job once with plans before being employed. My employer agreed I could still take the time off. Nothing new. We are just hell bent on finding anything possible to make everything appear wrong. Make the dog sick! Anyway…Seasons Greetings! Stay merry and bright! Peace to everyone.
