ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After 19 years at the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission (BVITB), Mr Rhodni A. Skelton has exited the entity, where he last held the position of Deputy Director of Tourism.

Mr Skelton’s contract with the BVITB expired on February 6, 2023, and it has not been renewed.

It is unclear the reason/s for his contract not being renewed and whether it was by mutual agreement.

‘My contract ended yesterday’- Skelton

“My contract ended yesterday,” Mr Skelton told Virgin Islands News Online, adding that he may say further on the matter in the coming days.

The BVITB, including its Chairperson Mrs Delma Maduro, did not respond to our request for comment.

In a leaked email to Marketing staff today, February 7, 2023, from Mr Skelton, and seen by our newsroom; however, Mr Skelton informed his colleagues of his departure from the BVITB.

“As of end of day yesterday, I am no longer your Deputy Director, and no longer an employee of the TB. At some point my access to emails and such, will be terminated and a general announcement made to the entire staff. But I wanted to tell you all on the Marketing team first.”

In the same email, Mr Skelton thanked his colleagues for their support “over the 19 years that I have been with the Organisation. We have had our ups and downs, but have always put our best foot forward as a team.”

Mr Skelton further said it was rewarding 19 years for him at BVITB. “Thanks to each of you in your own way. Keep up the good work that you do, and I will be cheering you on from the outside! Remember that this is "Your BVI" and that should be the main focus in everything that you do.. Until next time....,” the leaked email stated.

Who will replace Mr Skelton as Deputy Director?

Mr Rhodni A. Skelton, who was well known for spearheading the promotion of BVI Music Fest, is the son of former legislator Ronnie W. Skelton.

He served as Film Commissioner and Events Marketing Manager at the Tourist Board from 2004 to 2015 and was appointed Deputy Director of Tourism in May 2017.

Mr Skelton holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Northwood University.

Boyfriend/girlfriend melee should not interfere with business.

No ring, no marriage, and even if there was a marriage, personal bias and agendas are vindictive and will come back to bite you in the rear.

That is not true. Most of the accomplishment you mentioned there was not initiated by him. He was smart enough to use his position and influence to associate himself with some of those projects. But the truth is that most of those projects were up and running by other people. Lobster Fest is one of the main one
