Restaurant patron robbed, shot fired

Police are requesting assistance in the identification of the perpetrator involved in the robbery of a restaurant patron in the parking lot outside the Mill Mall on Sunday, October 21, 2012. Photo: VINO/File
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Police are investigating a robbery of a restaurant patron in the parking lot outside the Mill Mall on Sunday, October 21, 2012 around 10:50pm.

The male victim stated that he was sitting on a stone with others patrons in the parking lot when a male with a hat covering his forehead approached him from behind and grabbed his silver chain. When the victim attempted to retaliate, the assailant pull out a gun, fired one shot in the air and made his escape behind the building.

The offender is described as black, mid-twenties, 5’5, slim built with braided hair. At the time he was wearing dark clothing and a cap. One spent casing was recovered at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Police are encouraging persons who may have witnessed this act or could identify the individual who perpetrated this act to give this information to any one of the officers in the Criminal Investigation Department through its three-digit access number 311. This information, even if it is just a name, could greatly help in pointing police in the right direction. All information will be held in confidence.

Persons are also encouraged to use the untraceable, anonymous Crimestoppers Miami hotline number 800-(TIPS) or 800-8477. No names or numbers are requested and only the information provided is passed on to local police detectives.
