Members of the public who observe unauthorised or improper use of the Queen Elizabeth II Park are encouraged to notify the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change at (284) 468-2147 or by email at menrcc@gov.vg. Photo: Facebook

Residents, in a press release from the Government Information Service (GIS), were reminded of the key rules and reminders including:

• Parking of vehicles on the lawn areas of Queen Elizabeth II Park is strictly prohibited.
• Permission must be obtained from the Ministry before the park may be used for major events.
• The practice of tying ropes to the roof of the gazebos for exercise activities is prohibited.
• Feeding of feral fowls within the park is prohibited, as this contributes to an increase in the rat population and other public-health related concerns.

Public urged to report unauthorised or improper use of park

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change (MENRCC), Dr Ronald F. Berkeley emphasised the importance of everyone doing their part to aid in the preservation of the park. 

He said, “The Queen Elizabeth II Park is a place where families gather, friends meet, and people of all ages find joy in nature and recreation. Each of us plays an important role in keeping the park clean and beautiful. When we take care of this space, we not only protect the environment and uphold community pride, but we also ensure that our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the Queen Elizabeth II Park for years to come. Together, we can make our community safer, healthier, and more welcoming for residents and visitors alike.”
