HANNAH HILL, Tortola, VI- The Hannah Hill reservoir will get a new floor as repairs on the reservoir progress.

Minister for Communications and Works, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), in a video uploaded to his ministry’s official Facebook Page on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, said that while work on repairs to the water storage units may seem slow to some, remedial work has been ongoing.

Repairs on five reservoirs across the Virgin Islands (VI) were awarded via contract to Florida Aqua Store, with Hannah Hill given priority. The other reservoirs to be repaired are at Fort Hill, Sabbath Hill, Minton Hill on Virgin Gorda, and Balsam's Ghut.

Minister Rymer revealed that the contractor informed him that the new floor is needed, as well as the removal and cleaning of the panel.

“Those are the works that will be happening in this reservoir. We’ll have to take out the panel and make sure that it is cleaned, prepared, and ready for them to install the new floor, and they’ll do some resealing of the entire reservoir as well.”

Hon Rymer said that, in terms of the security of the reservoir, a fence has been erected and the access road paved. “This would have given us access [for] cranes and heavy equipment coming into the area to make sure that we have proper access to the site.”

Asking for patience

He added that this project will bring some relief to residents in the area who receive water from the Hannah Hill reservoir and is expected to last between 4 and 5 weeks. The project began in early August 2026.

“We ask the residents in the area for their continued patience as we work to repair this one of five reservoirs, giving the residents or consumers access to more reliable water.”

The total sum of the project awarded to Florida Aqua Store is one million, nine hundred and seventy-two thousand, two hundred and twenty-two dollars.
