Recent shooting victim Kareem A. Durante remanded for firearm possession
Mr Durante, 28, appeared this afternoon, June 10, 2016 before the Magistrate’s Court charged with possession of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition after Police allegedly uncovered a 99mm handgun and a 45 caliber handgun along with ammunition at his premises.
According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force today, the guns were allegedly recovered as Police continued their investigations into the disappearance of Devern Stanley aka Snoopy who has been reported missing.
Durante pleaded guilty to all charges and was remanded for sentencing on July 21, 2016.
According to a police press release, two other males taken into custody with Durante have since been discharged pending further investigations.
Durante of Butu Mountain, on the main Island of Tortola, had suffered a gunshot to the back, which allegedly exited his body, a story first and accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online on May 16, 2016.
Following the shooting, Durante was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Peebles Hospital with damages to the lungs and liver as a result of the gunshot.
Sources close to the family of Durante had two weeks ago confirmed that the injured man had since been discharged from Peebles Hospital and on the road to recovery.
