ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The health sector and the marine environment in the Virgin Islands (VI) are set to receive significant improvements with the signing of two contracts for major projects in these areas.

The Virgin Islands Recovery & Development Agency (RDA) announced this week that it signed contracts for the Façade Clean-Up and Installation of New Signage at the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital, as well as a contract for a joint venture between Sandwise Ltd. and Commercial Dive Services Ltd. for the Removal and Disposal of Derelict Vessels in the Sea Cows Bay Harbour.

$623,230.00 for Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital

According to a recent Facebook post by the RDA, the contract for the Façade Clean-Up and Installation of New Signage, valued at $623,230.00, marks a significant step forward following the recent successful completion of the Medical Gas Building and the installation of the Oxygen Generating System.

$854,633.43 for Sea Cows Bay Harbour

Meanwhile, a major initiative is underway to restore safety, access, and environmental integrity in the Sea Cows Bay Harbour area, with a contract signed for this project valued at $854,633.43.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been formalised with the Virgin Islands Shipping & Maritime Authority, designating Isha Hodge as the Site Supervisor (Environmental) for the Derelict Vessels Project.

The RDA emphasised that these strategic partnerships reflect its commitment to progress, resilience, and building a stronger Virgin Islands—one project at a time.
