Rayne Duff 5th on Day 1 of Jr Gold Cup in Bermuda

Sixteen (16) of the top sailors in the world were invited by the RBYC to compete against local Bermuda sailors in the Jr Gold Cup, a youth version of the Argo Gold Cup- one of the oldest regattas in the world.
Duff won the first race and then followed up with 5th, 17th, 2nd, and 7th.
He is lying 5th of 45 sailors, including past world champions and current national champions from many countries.
The RenaissanceRe Junior Gold Cup, now in its 13th year, has become a critical pathway for Bermuda’s Optimist sailors seeking international competition and top level experience. The regatta brings the world’s best Opti sailors to their doorstep and allows the local sailors to instantly see where they sit on the world stage.
The RenRe Junior Gold Cup has become the breeding ground for local match race sailors both in Bermuda and overseas. This includes 2014 World Match Race Champion Taylor Canfield, who got his first taste of match race sailing while in Bermuda attending the Junior Gold Cup from USVI.
RenaissanceRe has sponsored this event since its inception, providing the support to assist with airfares for the international youth sailors and providing them with charter boats, on-the-water coaching and equipment required for competition.
The visiting sailors stay with the local families of the RBYC youth sailors which is another important aspect of this unique experience. For the local sailors aged nine to 15, the regatta provides world- class competition in their home waters, an experience usually found only by traveling to a continental IODA event.
Americas Cup racers are all in town for the AC Challenge event the following weekend and the youths toured the facilities of Team Oracle (USA) before racing.

You consistently write that you don't see 'our people' whenever a sailing post is made about the wonderful work these BVI youths are completing... Please, we invite you to actually put money where your mouth is and bring out 'YOUR people' to sail. All you have to do is step up to the plate if you want to play ball. Contact Rotary Club or Royal BVI Yacht Club to find out how to get more BVI people sailing today. This sport is for all, and we live in the best place in the world to conduct it. I think you need to check out some Big Brandon Carter man....
