- says legal action has been taken over financial allegations regarding telethon funds raised
CEO and Tola Radio Host, Floyd Burnett aka Heritage has broken his silence to clear his name regarding the funds raised on Tola Radio on behalf of Dameon Percival, in a case with now more questions than answers that has embroiled not only Mr Burnett and Mr Percival, but another Tola Radio Host Cindy Rosan. ROSEAU, Dominica – CEO and Tola Radio host Floyd Burnett aka 'Heritage' has broken his silence to clear his name regarding the funds raised on Tola Radio on behalf of Dameon Percival. Controversy over the use of the funds has embroiled not only Mr Burnett and Mr Percical but another Tola Radio host, Rosemary Cindy Rosan.

The three raised an estimated $30,000 via a radio telethon on June 29, 2023, after a public auction notice from The National Bank of the Virgin Islands (NBVI) on June 22, 2023, announcing that a property co-owned by Mr Percival will be up for sale via auction.

Despite raising the required funds, the Bank announced that the house would once again be going up for action on Thursday, August 31, 2023, which leaves the question of whether the money raised was used for the stated purpose.

Heritage breaks silence

Heritage in a ‘tell all’ yesterday morning, August 22, 2023, on Tola Radio, while referring to Mr Percival as a former employee, said the telethon was out of the goodness of his heart to save the home.

“My friend Mr Percival has had his problems, society never accepts him back… I accept the man back in my place and give him something to do. Sometimes you lay down with dogs and catch fleas, and that's what really happened here with Rastafari,” he said via telephone to host Ms Rosan.

‘Heritage’ said the funds was raised out of the goodness of his name and he did not even think it was possible to raise the funds; however, he added that there is no proof in damning allegations that he has ever approached Mr Percival for any of the money raised.

He added that cease and desist letters have been sent regarding some financial allegations and added that a bailiff is currently seeking Mr Percival.

My Integrity is all I have - 'Heritage'

“I take these allegations seriously because my integrity is all I have. God is what blessed me with my business. I don’t have no diploma, nothing else to fall back on,” he said while adding that he has never been a thief or a robber.

Like Ms Rosan, Mr Burnett said after the funds were raised Percival informed the Tola Radio work circle that one Denniston Frazer was his lawyer and was handleling all the legal matters.

“When everything hit the fan, I called Denniston Frazer and I asked him what are you doing… Dameon has gave you money, whats going on? This looks bad on all of us.”

Situation dishertening - 'Heritage'

Mr Burnett continued,  “Mr Denniston Frazer told me he was never a day in his life… hired or worked on behalf of Dameon. My mouth and locks nearly drop out,” he said.

Mr Burnett called the situation disheartening and added that the Tola Radio team was under the full impression that Mr Frazer was handling all the legal matters.

'Heritage' also claimed that persons in NBVI said Mr Percival never visited the bank to handle matters. He said since talking to Mr Frazer, Mr Percival has not spoken to him since last Friday.

That's not true. How is anyone responsible for what another person is thinking or doing? Sometimes you are not aware of what someone is doing, even if you are their friend. Getting trapped in someone else's mess is very disheartening and hurtful to the innocent person. I learned that lesson when I was being questioned about a person I barely knew, but this person always managed to walk up to our friend circle and blend in with our conversation, so people ASSUMED we were all friends. Never blame the entire group for one person's actions. It's very embarrassing.

I respect all the good Heritage is doing but he brought himself too low with those comments. He should have kept it professional. He said his piece, he defended himself and his brand very nicely, but there were no need for those words. He shouldn't have allowed Damion or anyone to bring him that low.. I will tell you this. Cindy acted like a real pro, she conducting herself on the Radio with class, like a real pro, the calm, the intelligence, the knowledge, well spoken she has added value to Tola Radio. Hope they can get along for long..

Why keep something to yourself when Mr. could be heard saying he begged Mr. for money on international radio? I think Ms. Rosan was in complete disbelief when she heard Mr. say she had to beg for money. She laughed. I just hope this does not affect any other tell-a-thons going forward. Trust when in question is hard to convince to trust again.

I think the media and talk shows need to stop highlighting this issue for now because It may send him rockers remember pressure burst pipe and lord have mercy he got to be under some heavy pressure mentality and emotional. The easiest thing for him to do is give them people their money back since he has done nothing to save his house. It has to be a reason why two persons name appear on a mortgage and the bank still going with it. Some thing we don't fully understand or know why. It may be personal underlined issues

to Mr. Percival. The community rallied around you in good faith to help you bring your account up to date with the bank. People have their own issues and financial responsibilities, but yet they donated to help you out. Sound like it is several years you might not have paid your mortgage and you got comfortable because this is the BVI and the honorables always know how to make a call to the bank to tell them give so and so a break, and it works.

Even if the bank still keep you on the foreclosure list after you have paid in the donors money, that has nothing to do with us. We did not give for you to hold on to the money in case the bank will still auction the property. You owe the bank, pay them what the people gave you. It is customers like you that make it harder for other young people who trying hard to build our homes.

Regardless of what we think of Heritage and Cindy, they called on the community on your behalf to help you. You either give back people their money, or you take the money to the bank and pay it on your account. Be a good steward of money donated to you and do the right thing. Be honourable

Long and short of it is Cindy and Heritage insert themselves into something they never had the whole overstanding of and as Dameon say he told them was to "leave it alone let it work it's path." If they had listened there wouldn't be all this drama. And Cindy known for drama. I sure if you look up drama in the dictionary you will see a picture of her. More drama than Lifetime.

If they had taken time to do a little more research and get a fuller overstanding of Dameon situation and what the banks position was then they would not have found themselves in this position. Furthermore they would have put in place a return policy should the venture not be successful. But they jump head first.

That they found themselves in this position should come as no surprise to anyone. Cindy is the queen of drama. I surprise she in suing as well because she have a laundry list of legal actions which have gone no where. She even take action on Heritage and look who she working for. Look like he take a page out of her book.

I am a fan of Tola radio. I think it is informative and a good platform for airing grievances. I listened to the show when they started the telethon. It was all done in good faith. There is NO WAY I will believe there is any wrong doing on behalf of Heritage and Cindy. We don't know what happened why Dameon did not pay in that money but the responsibility is on him and him alone. Heritage and Cindy stay strong. I pray that whatever Dameon is going through he will be able to rise above it.

What most of you do not know is whenever the bank have your property for foreclosure, you cannot save it unless you have the amount owed, which also includes all late charges and lawyer fees. Also if they realize that you are a client who will continue to be delinquent on your mortgage because of your income not being substantial enough to make your monthly payments, then they will still prefer to go ahead and auction your property to save time and money.
