Rami Garcia recommended for a BVI Asia Study Abroad Scholarship

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Rami Garcia was selected for consideration for a BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship after being selected from the 2026 BVI Film Commission Summer Film Academy cohort.

During the academy’s closing ceremony on Friday, July 10, 2026, Film Commissioner Natalie O. Hodge said Garcia “would be considered by the Asia Study Abroad Programme”. 

Garcia will still have to submit an application and be accepted to further his studies in Film & Media, TV Production, Creative Communications, or related fields. 

4 days & expert facilitators

Garcia, one of this year’s outstanding participants, was chosen for his performance, commitment, and potential demonstrated during the academy. 

The academy, which ran from July 7 to 10, 2026, saw participants guided by industry professionals in scriptwriting, documentary filmmaking, and distribution and packaging. Each participant received the tools needed to learn, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life. 

Facilitators included CJ Faison, Corey Colvin and James Bland.
