HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI – Businessman Mr Rajah A. Smith, who said he was running as an Independent At-Large Candidate for the 2019 General Elections in the Virgin Islands (VI) has now shifted gears and joined up with the Hon Julian Fraser RA led Progressives United (PU) party.

The announcement was made by Mr Fraser himself at Huntums Ghut on Saturday, February 2, 2019, during the PU’s first Candidate launch for Dirk L. Walters for the 5th District.

Long Road

“Tonight I am here to announce the addition of one new member, to our team, this is the beginning of our At-Large representation on the team,” Mr Fraser said is declaring Smith on the 2019 slate.

He described Mr Smith as a young man whom many in the community take for granted, “the people you grow up with, the people you see are the ones you first take for granted,” he said.

“I have grown to appreciate his smarts, his attention to details and I’ve also grown to appreciate those who tend to take him for granted,” Hon Fraser implored.

Rajah Ready

According to Mr Smith, he is ready to take on the fight and represent the Territory, “People of the 5th district, people of the Virgin Islands, we are facing some tough times. We have some difficult days ahead, our community, our homes and souls are breaking down to the point that our very existence is in question,” he told those gathered.

He said the country is being run by those who place capital over people at all cost, "I am a big guy, but my heart is bigger… I will fight for you because there is no other choice if I give up if I quit I will be creating a self-fulfilling prophecy,” he said.

Hon Fraser said I watch him done things that many could do yet have no willpower, “for instance, just this last General Elections in the United States, he was one of those trying to elect a governor in Florida.”
