FAT HOGS BAY, Tortola, VI– Tola Radio VI 100.5 FM radio host Floyd Burnett aka 'Heritage' has slammed the Deputy Governor of the Virgin Islands, Mr David D. Archer Jr, as a failure in his job.

Mr Burnett was at the time speaking with Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) on his ‘Morning Braff’ radio show on March 27, 2023.

While on the topic of compensation for persons in public office, Premier Wheatley highlighted that while there is a salary review taking place in the public service, the long process is not the fault of the Government.

The Premier then revealed that the hold-up is the fault of the Deputy Governor, to which Mr Burnett added, “That man is a failure, its so embarrassing.”

The radio host also questioned why the Deputy Governor does not fully dedicate his energies towards his responsibilities to the territory as he does to his 'Pioneering Greatness' book series. Dr Wheatley responded, "Let we talk about that next week.”

New salary review ongoing - Premier Whealtey

Meanwhile, the Premier said the last salary review in the VI was commissioned by the late Hon Ralph T. O’Neal OBE and it took another VIP government to commission another review.

“That salary review is to ensure that our teachers, our public servants, persons who are doing technical jobs, that they are paid better,” he said.

The Premier added that the VIP Government is committed to paying public servants better, especially teachers.

Dr Wheatley added that the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) would have to do its own review, as statutory bodies were not included in the current review. He said this will allow health services staff, such as nurses, to earn a better salary.

The compensation review seeks to address remuneration disparity, further support the retention, engagement and motivation of skilled and competent officers to effectively deliver public services, and to move toward a ‘Total Rewards’ Scheme that promotes high performance.

95% of the People are not honest or genuine...And so no matter how you show them black they will make an excuse or argument why it is black or it looks like black but its not really black. Mr. Percival on Tola Radio to me has no credibility because everything about VIP is wrong and bad yet everything about NDP is good and right, thats insanity. Herritage is the real deal, he says it as he sees it, dont matter who. I enjoy listening to herritage views..

This man is a real failure to the territory
Nothing he does for this money and he don’t care about people. His staff is also a terrible failure

Failures don't have staff to fire, failures don't get up everyday to work in the reality of their own dreams. You may dislike the guy, or his style, but the mere fact that he has a thriving business with guests and sponsors and a staff speaks to his success not failure.

No offense but a certain party behaving ike a prostitute who would do and say anything just to get some money. It is sickening and they need to stop. We will do this and we will do that. All the million and one bills they pass, they couldn't do a review then. All through covid when they were watching people suffer and die, they were not thinking about the teachers who adapted to keep the system going. They were not thinking about the bereaved. NO. They were calling out number of covid deaths during the day but lining up their bank accounts behind the scenes with the greedy bill. EVIL.

So i guess the increments promised to the teachers was a lie since they still have to do a review (sorry teachers). The bible tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. So why wait. GET THEM OUT!

Hold all of them feet to the fire. We tend to have a very short memory in this country..About a year ago Civil Servants Including BVIHA were worried cause every month their salaries were running late..Govt had go borrow monies to pay workers salaries..We have these X Politicians collecting these enormus payout...I am more upset about the first greedy bill because that was an ambush. Done in secretcy, I am certain if the people had known about thst first greedy bill, the reaction would hsve been the same as this new greedy bill. So the first one was a mafair scam, sneak unto law under the cover of night...

The only government that ever give civil servants a raise is the VIP. The NDP took away increments from us in 2011, leaving us with half and they never returned us to our full increments status they owed us increments 2017, 18, till the VIP got back in 2019 and they pay us 2017 and 18 increments and we awaiting the rest of the increments. Let NDP go siddong we ain't putting them back in so they could deal with them Rich White friends North of the border.

Now i am going off what you said. The Ndp ,and whoever, with the exception of the Vip did pay increments. However, the Vip paid up the increments for the years that the Ndp didn't pay, 2017, and 2018. Now look at this, it is so IRONIC that ,inspite of all this DRAMA,and COSMETICS , how com since the Vip has the Government since 2019 to now, they have not paid.
Comically speaking, they paid someone else's short comings and haven'even paid their own....

thus the reason for the hold back, they had to much corrections to do from the NDP to do, plus all what the others they inherited from the NDP. PLUS! everything else which happened in these last 3 years held back a lot of progress for them. another chance is a FEAR deal mhaaan, let see them in their full radiance. They have been through a lot and have managed to keep this place a float, compared to some of our reginal island, they are to be commended. Their is a God above, lets be honest!

Don't mention the BVIHSA. Its an object failure to the staff and the society. Just like our politician there is no vision and or leadership and they continue to limbo with the same leadership for the past ten years excepts for a few drop-ins here and there.

Why complete a review then commit to pay out monies we don't have. Greedy bill one going with most of it, Now greedy bill two want to go with the rest. All these Governments are greedy failures. The People who made all the sacrifices, risk their lives couldn't even get a small "Honorarium" While all these failures call politicians taking home over $5,000.00 monthly. Something is Wrong with this Place. Like Shaina always say, We dont have a money problem, we have a money management problem..Politicians past and present are our problems..

I don't understand how Archer getting blamed for holding up the process though when information about the compensation review been made public all the time. A whole bunch of info about when this thing supposed to end which is supposed to be August...March ain't even done.

Matter of fact, I have 3 questions
    1. Who led same 2002 salary review?
    2. Who leading this same 2023 compensation review?
    3. Which Office write the cabinet paper for the current review and the increments?

The same Archer Heritage talking about and the Premier knows this. All this noise Heritage making, he need to do research.

Is there a process in progress to deliver increments to those who are retired and are in need of their increment/monies owed?

It is hoped that there is, and that they will be paid out very soon, and that those who have worked their entire lives, contributing to the development and progress of this country will finally get what is owed to them.

Indeed, there is great outrage and indignation among a huge portion of the population surrounding the "greedy bill" while retired government personnel, who worked their entire career on low wages, waited decades for an increment increase, and who have now retired and are still waiting to receive their increments, continue to feel and be outraged and filled with indignation when said politicians are lining their pockets with hundreds of thousands of dollars while leaving committed servants and everyone else begging for what they have already worked for. That is grossly selfish and evil...

Indeed, many will vote in this cycle, but the are many more who will not because of this issue. One can recall having these same issues and discussions during the last election cycle. This is a clear indication then that it is a distinct and deliberate decision that elected officials do not intend to pay civil servants their earned increments.

With all due respect, our current country governors, law makers, financial, city and people managers and others appear completely detached from the people, the professionals who make things right and keep the country running. They appear to be selfish, caring only for themselves, their salaries, their retirement benefits, their bank accounts, their stomachs and themselves.

It is so obvious that they seek elective office through the people only to serve themselves, never the people or country.

It is now almost a decade or more most are still waiting to receive their increments, yet politicians, after, just a few years have already received hundreds of thousands of dollars, and will continue to do so for life, while retirees and the elderly are told indirectly to go vote for (them) (me) and then GO SUCK SALT!

Civill servants are you really going to stand in long lines on election day to vote in the VIP who has crippled your future and then you are left with that meger salary that you have?
Some of you who cannot make ends meet are really going to vote the VIP back in?
    This is suicide.

Not me, you can take that to the bank. Unless they pay me what i done work for and have been waiting on for a decade now, my increments. No increments,NO VOTE! NO INCREMENTS, NO VOTE. Thought NDP woud have paid us those increments and they didn't either. So, NO INCREMENTS, NO VOTE FORNOBODY. And it is hopedthat every civil servan, activeand retired convince every one to boycott the coming elections, or vote for the team say it willpay us our increments.
