ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Over 300 people in Harlem, NY were introduced to the VI through Quito & The Edge this past Wednesday evening when the group performed in front of a packed crowd at celebrity chef Marcus Samuelson’s Ginny’s Supper Club.

There was standing room only inside the nightspot located downstairs from Samuelson’s equally renowned Red Rooster restaurant as throngs of patrons turned out to watch the live band.

In New York to participate in the Global Bazaar tourism event held by Travel + Leisure magazine, the musicians were given the stage to sing in a community that is synonymous for producing and exhibiting some of the greatest musical legends known around the world.

“The Red Rooster provided a first rate opportunity for the destination to showcase our local talent in Harlem, renowned for its culture, history and the arts, said Russell Harrigan, Chairman of the BVI Tourist Board. “Promoting our destination to niche market segments such as ‘foodies’ affords the Board the opportunity to effectively target and reach new audiences via landmark establishments. Through this event, we were able to expose attendees to a sampling of our dynamic and diverse tourism product through one of our most recognised artistes”.

Perla George, the Tourist Board’s General Manager, North America explained the significance of the group’s performance and the Global Bazaar. “New York is our lead market in North America and this is the beginning of our busy Fall promotional season. We’ve been able to use these events to sell our great diversity and present them in front of astute travelers and consumers who enjoy great food and music.

They’ve now heard and learned firsthand about a vacation spot they can truly
enjoy,” she said.
