PASEA ESTATE , Tortola, VI - The Quaker Oats Company, through its authorised distributors in the Virign Islands (VI), has announced an expansion of the December 20, 2023, product recall to include additional cereals, bars and snacks over potential Salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

“Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.” 

According to Quaker, a division of PepsiCO, the products listed on this website www.quakergranolarecall.com were produced in the United States and only the products listed on this press release were distributed to the [British] Virgin Islands.

Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cinnamon & Brown Sugar

Therefore, the company informs potential consumers to check their pantries for any of the listed products and discard them.  The additional products are Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cinnamon, 14.5 oz, 030000061534, with best before dates between Jan-11-24 to Oct-1-24, and Quaker Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar 14.5 oz 030000064412 with the same best before date.

Additionally, consumers with any of the mentioned products can return the described product to the original store where they purchased it and present their purchase receipt where additional information, on any of the mentioned products can contact the customer service email consumers.1800@pepsico.com.

Quaker said it has not received reports of illnesses related to the products covered by this market withdrawal. Quaker has reported these actions to the relevant local authorities.

    I had a box of the Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares and I got rid of it as soon as I heard. Good thing I did not ate any of it.
