VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI - “There is a company for the last three years that continues to get into the public purse and we cannot get them out named PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWHC),” said Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1), a key member of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

Hon Fahie was at the time addressing a VIP general meeting with residents of Virgin Gorda on June 18, 2014 and was speaking of the state of the economy of the Virgin Islands.

He said that he found it amazing that decisions are being made that are favourable for PWHC after they made their way into the government system by doing what he described as ‘so called tender’ under a $100,000.

“Since then they have up to one hundred million, one hundred plus thousand dollars later and every facet of government doing work and didn’t tender or do any competitive bidding since,” Hon Fahie said.

It was the expressed opinion of Hon Fahie that in every area where the average citizen is working for government, the systems have changed where one has to tender, this he said goes even for the garbage collectors.

“You have a garbage company but you are not automatically given the contract again, you have to tender although you were doing it before but now we have a company that did a report on us…”

Hon Fahie was at the time referring to a report which was done by PriceWaterHouseCoopers, one he said was illegal. “I would say that report is not valid because under the law a forensic audit of the government’s accounts cannot be done without the permission of the auditor general…It is illegal, it is not a valid report,” he said.

He insisted that the PWHC has been placed in the Virgin Islands to write nothing good for the past administration, as instructed but rather write whatever needs to be written on the present administration.

“I have my proof to prove it. I am not coming here to play politics,” he said hitting again on the allegations of the VIP government leaving the country broke. “I am convinced that we did not leave the country broke, it has nothing to do with NDP and VIP,” said Hon Fahie.

“We shouldn’t be answering for leaving the country broke, the government needs to be answering for the money that we left, where is it?” he asked.

Hon Fahie said that while they have been constantly attempting to raise certain issues in the House of Assembly but without success, they are left with no choice but to ‘hit the streets’.

“There is a conscious effort to brand the [VIP] Chairman [Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3)], there is a conscious effort to brand Fahie but I am not Kellogg’s, nobody going to brand neither me nor the Chairman anyway other than who God put us here to be. We are going to fight for the rights of the people of this Territory because they are being infringed upon.

The Governor has failed us. The police have failed us. The NDP can do what they want & not be investigated. This will lead to unrest if it keeps up.

I read the post of spanish town but I will take my chances with Fahie any day over Myron because with Fahie what you see is what you get while the other one shows you one face & conduct in front of your face & a totally different face behind your back.

just imagine if, instead of sending millions of $$$$$ on pricewaterhosue, and spending millions on trips we could have fixed schools, the water problem, seweage in the streest of Road Town and East End, jobs creation for the youths???? That would be a lot of happy voters i the BVI

It's funny how people here are such puppets and don't realize it. For VIP supporters, when their Government does these same things, it's called moving the country forward and 'empowerment'. When NDP does it, to them it's considered corruption and cronyism. LMAO! I will just continue to enjoy the show. All Politicians are friends regardless of party, ALL! Read between the lines, don't drink the koolaid peeps. They're laughing at all of you behind their curtains.

When this government give their croonies and friends hundreds of thousands, and millions of dollars to line their pockets, they try to make up by charging bogus fees. Why is no one telling us where the $10 that is charged from St. Thomas to BVI is going? Who exactly is collecting that money? The clerk in St. Thomas in the ferry office say it is the VIPA. The VIPA don't know anything about it. They are collecting this $10 under the guise of the St. Thomas Port Authority. We can't win for losing with this deceitful government. The people need honesty and transparency. GIS can you make a statement to enlighten the people about this fee? I heard it broadcast the increase leaving BVI effective July 1st. Why was this fee just pounced on the travelling public so secretly ? If it was advertised I did not hear it. This needs to be cleared up especially since the NDP government spending money like they find it. What are they going to do to us next ?

What a day its going to be when the NDP tables their forensic report at the next sitting of the House on the performance of the VIP during their last four years in office. No wonder Tilford is calling for a closed door meeting between the PAC and the Premier.
