FISH BAY, Tortola, VI- The breakaway group that left the National Democratic Party (NDP) and formed its own group in 2018, Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), is expected to launch eight (8) candidates this evening, Monday, March 6, 2023.

4 At-Large & 4 District Candidates

Sources close to the group told our news centre that the PVIM has four At-Large candidates and four District candidates and is working on another two candidates for the 2023 General Election of the Virgin Islands.

Expected to fill the four At-Large slots are Mr Ronnie W. Skelton (Party Chairman), former Speaker of the House of Assembly Ingrid A. Moses, Shaina M. Smith-Archer and Stacy Mather (Executive Director of Youth Empowerment Programme).

It is our understanding that the District slots filled so far are: D1- Sylvia C. Moses, D2- Incumbent Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (Deputy Party Chairman), D4- Paul A. Hewlett aka ‘Paul on the Ball’ and D9- Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles, a current At-Large Representative who jumped from the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) to PVIM last month.

Meanwhile, it is our understanding that some are already raising issues about the eligibility of Mr Mather to run, as he was born in the United Kingdom and allegedly none of his parents are born in the Virgin Islands.

It is unclear when and if the other District seats will be filled or if they will be announced today; however, the PVIM is actively speaking to many potential candidates, but some have already backed out.

4-party affair

The PVIM will face the VIP who has already announced 10 candidates out of 13 and the NDP who has only announced 3 candidates. The Hon Julian Fraser (R3) led Progressives United (PU) is expected to come to the table with candidates, but it is unclear when.

We will bring more details as the story develops.

None of these 4 at large will get as much vote as Shareen would have gotten if she was at large. I think its a risk having Shareen in the 9th when she was a sure winner at large...That would have given PVIM a high possibility of winning 3 at large seatd..Mather, Ronnie and Shareen...Now its a different ball game.

I’ll tell you this besides Uncle Ronnie I like the fresh faces. All I’ll say is I completely trust Mather, Hewlett and Ingrid to NOT wheel and deal the territory away to clandestine Boy Scout clubs who meet in secret. A set of give contracts on the basis of agreeing to kickbacks etc. that’s why England here. Two terms of NDP followed just a year or so for VIP to complete muck up our government.

On what merit they deserve to be back in power when that party brought the BVi to its knees… we voting is not a popularity contest

You only know bout your vote, if you don't spoil your ballot.

BVI people will learn that the most silent and unpredictable peoole will decide the majority of votes. Do not underestimate the new belongers and naturalized folks. They're not going to be on the campaign trail nor in the.motorcades but voting morning they going send a lesson that will.make every party piss themselves. The race is no longer with the so call prominant people talking about their grandmother over the fence and ancestor chats. They not in government and have nothing to lose. We need a shipment of aspirin and pampers

Say it again. Make them understand.. We supported NDP because we thought those with Xpat Roots would have compassion and understanding, but they failed us, especially after the Hurricanes, the amt of harrassment, victimization and oppressission we got from bosses, Labour and immigration and no help or intervention from NDP govt, thats why they lost, we vote them out and they are done. Theh are not good people. We are taking a good look at. PvIM, We like Ronnie and Shareen we disappojnted Shareen didn't run at large.. We will vote most of these unity members xpat haters out. We dont talk, we know how to make change, Foy Understands that, the reason why he was sailn status.. Say it again, Xpats belonger voters will decide this election, like other elections. Its the truth.

I worked with Sylvia Moses and the further the voters keep this vindictive and evil-minded person out of politics then the better for the BVI. She is a quiter version of Shereen but the two are the same person.

PVIM have candidates in areas where NDP do not in the districts. These two parties are the same people. Most of them do not care for the common people only the status quo. They are hoping the voters are stupid and do not see that voting for some of them on each party slate will be voting for the old NDP before we know it. People stay awoke.

NDP is done.. Ralph VIP made the BVI sick. Dr Smith NDP kill the BVI and Foh and Sowande VIP bury the BVI. Now we have to mix the thing up. No more party. Party represent disaster.. Hope the next Govt is 3 from this..3 from from that and another 3 the other one.. Then with all the confusion as to who will be Premier then is when we the people will have a say as to who the Premier would be...Let me make my position clear, Kye is my choice for Premier, lets follow the trend set by St. Lucia, Grenada and St. Kitts, Go young, compassionate fearless and courageous. I really like the Guy in St. Kitts, he aint joking he serious, he holding the past govt accountable for their wrongs and he made it clear that he only wants two terms, clearly he is not power hungry.

Kye is good but not Premier ready as yet. He does not have that ability to think quickly and come up with a solution, he needs more grooming. Possibly next election.
