FISH BAY, Tortola, VI- Hon Stacy R. Mather, MBE (AL), is calling on Virgin Islanders to put away hatred in 2026.

In his first sit-down interview since leaving the Myron V. Walwyn-led Oposition and The Alliance to join the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government on December 22, 2025, Hon Mather wished the people of the Virgin Islands (VI) a Happy New Year. 

“[I] hope that it’s a year filled with hope, it’s a year filled with success and genuinely that all of us find a way to come together, push our Virgin Islands forward, put away any hatred, any areas of confrontation,” Hon Mather said in an interview on JTV Channel 55 with Cathy O. Richards on December 31, 2025. 

A fresh start in 2026

Hon Mather will begin 2026 working closely with Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) on the Registration, Apprenticeship, Training, Employment, and Development (RATED) programme, initiatives in agriculture and fisheries, and the development of community programmes aimed at empowering community-based organisations to execute initiatives for the upliftment of the citizens and residents of the community. 

During the press briefing to announce his move, Hon Mather had said he looks forward to applying his experience to support community empowerment programmes and initiatives that strengthen the work of NGOs and small community businesses. 

These, he explained, “have become the backbone of the Virgin Islands”.

      , NDP will win next election...Can't you see all VIP doing is talking, promising, signing, yet we are not seeing nothing, no improvement, Just pie in the Sky. Imagine Old years day, New years day, I get no water , thats like an unforgiveable Sin. So many failure. Myron and 6 others from his Party will win next election...

    It is not hatred to want for a better country for the people of the VI.

    Build up the people not the HOA elites and their family and friends team.

    We need an HOA for the people.

    Not the HOA we have with love for self and hatred for the VI people.

    The best way to out away hatred is to put away this HOA13.

      I really like you and had all intentions of voting and campaigning for you and NDP in the next elections, Now I can't do that...Bro you no the kind of suffering people going through under VIP especially low income people,, Reduce minimum wage, no water for days bad Roads mashing up our vehicle front end, they focusing on fulling their own packets...Tbis VIP don't care bro..Change must come next elections even if, its Horse, Pigs, Sheep of Rabits. Things can't get no worse, My disapoointment is Britain. They really should have suspend and take over, even for 6 months, just to send a message of seriousness.

    Mather message touched ya’ll lumpy corned toes and ayo vex cause what? Myron can’t hold a team together on his own strength?!? That’s ayo problem right here- no different to VIP. Party politics killing the country yet ayo want to keep pushing the same failures expecting different results - madness!!!

    Ayo would vote in ANYONE who joins Myron regardless of their background and experience just because they on team MYRON or team Ronnie. Yet those same two haven’t achieved much for their tenures.

    NDP got killed off due to the same big egos that playing out rite now!
