ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Life does not consist of the happy and bright alone but the sad and dull as well. It is at the darkest parts of life that one’s character is truly formed.

This hard "fact" of life will be highlighted in a play to be performed by members of the Elmore Stoutt High School Drama Society later this month.

The Unveiling of Sayretta is written and produced by local playwright Mrs Janice George Harris.

According to Mr Ronn A. Grant, who has been helping to promote the play, The Unveiling of Sayretta is an original play that focuses on the life and one’s reaction to situations in which he or she finds him or herself.

“The play highlights the fact that life does not consist of the happy and bright alone but the sad and dull as well. It is at the darkest parts of life that one’s character is truly formed. The main character in this play finds this defining moment in her life when she is met by an unexpected revelation that threatens to unravel her life,” Mr Grant told Virgin Islands News Online.

Mr Grant continued that the themes of love vs. hate acceptance vs. rejection, and truth vs. lie form an intricate web that has so far cocooned the main character. It is only when she faces reality and accepts herself for who she is that she begins to emerge as real ‘unveiled’ Sayretta.

Our newsroom was informed that the play was debuted at the 9th biennial Caribbean Secondary Schools Drama Festival held in Trinidad and Tobago in November 2015.

The Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) Drama Society will perform a live performance of the original play production, 'The Unveiling of Sayretta' on April 22 and 23, 2016 at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at the H. L. Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay.

On Friday, April 22 the first play will be done at 1:00pm with the other at 7:00pm. On Saturday, April 23 the play will be done at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.

Tickets cost $5 for Elementary students, $10 for Secondary students and $20 for Adults and can be bought from the ESHS Drama Society members, the Elmore Stoutt High School front office, and Beacon Bible Bookstore on Main Street.
