CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- A week of protest action against Governor Daniel Pruce’s decision to remove Ms Jacqueline E. Vanterpool as Acting Commissioner of Police (CoP) ends later today, Friday, November 14, 2025, with a march.

The march will begin at 3:00 PM from the Road Town Police Station to the Governor’s Office.

Stand up for your democratic right

Bishop John I. Cline told this news centre that he is urging everyone to come out to support and join the march.

“Stand up for your right. This is your democratic right, this is for the future of your children, this is for the good governance of this Territory, we will not settle for dictatorship, we will not settle for indirect rule by the UK representative.”

The Governor, he said, was appointed to represent the Virgin Islands, and right now he is not doing so.

“We are asking everyone from Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Anegada, who can make it to [Tortola], let’s stand up against these dictatorial and colonialistic moves by the Governor.”

Governor Pruce has said his decision not to confirm Ms Vanterpool to the post of Commissioner of Police, though recommended to him by the Police Service Commission, was in keeping with constitutional powers granted to him by Section 97 of the Constitution of the Virgin Islands.

His nominee for interim CoP is former Gibraltar Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger, a man who was under investigation for wrongdoing.

The week of protest activities included protest action outside the Governor’s Office, a panel discussion and a town hall meeting.

A ‘Virgin Islands Petition Against Governor's Commissioner Decision’ was also launched.

When did it suddenly become march for Democracy.

If it is a march for democracy we must be marching on the House of Assembly to protest the Dirty HOA13 and the DICTATOR.

We must be marching because the DICTATOR and the HOA13 have ignored the 2022-2023 Constitutional Review Commission. (HOW DARE THEY IGNORE A COMMISSION!!). They are presenting their own ideas (that have taken little input from the Commission or the VI people) to the UK FCO Minister Stephen Doughty (Not David Doughty - the Hedgehog man who Natalio thinks is the Minister.) That is not democracy. We are living under a DICTATOR surrounded by sycophants.

I thought this was protest because the Governor was wrong to remove the Commissioner of Police from a position she was not in. What happened to that protest. The protest because he did not listen to a Commission that he only has to take advice from

If this is a march for DEMOCRACY. Great. Get the banners out and March to the HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

Join the march and march to the HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY and bring DEMOCRACY back to the VI.

487 people voting for someone that is declared Premier from a population of 30,000 is not DEMOCRACY.

Check what these HOA13 are presenting for the next Constitution.

Consider the slippery nature of what this march claims to be about.

VIGILATE is more important for the VI now than ever.

Wow. Just WOW. The politicians REALLY think we're fools. But it is our fault. Because we should have marched AGES ago for the unfinished and underfunded schools, for the empty water pipes, for the bad roads, for the frequent electricity outages, for the money paid to "fisherfolk and farmers", for the scholarship money used to send the VIP faithful's children to foreign private schools, for the Minister of Finance and Deputy Governor's miscalculation of the cost of salary increases to the public sector, for every fete the "Party Premier" has used government money to pay for and the list goes on and on. Its sickening now and it has been sickening....but we still haven't marched. So it is our fault.
