ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Premier’s Office, Dr Carolyn O’Neal-Morton has been sent on leave, as criminal investigations into that office under former Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) begins.

This was revealed by Premier, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) today, May 13, 2022, during a press conference on current matters in the territory. Deputy Premier Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) accompanied the Premier at the press conference.

Dr Wheatley said the decision to send Dr O’Neal-Morton on leave was communicated to him by the Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr.

Governor John J. Rankin, CMG announced yesterday, May 12, 2022, that a criminal investigation into the conduct of the Premier’s Office has been launched.

He said the investigation was launched over the alleged obstruction of the Director of the Internal Audit Department in respect of her audit of the COVID-19 Assistance Programmes, as stated in the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Report.

Deputy Gov will speak on issue - Premier Wheatley

Premier Wheatley, when questioned about persons being sent home as investigations are ongoing, said: “It is not my area of responsibility, that’s under the Deputy Governor and I prefer for him to answer.”

When pressed further, he added, “The Deputy Governor told me that she [Dr O'Neal-Morton] would be on leave while those investigations are taking place,” he added.

Premier Wheatley did not reveal any more details about the situation; however, during the press conference, he affirmed his Government’s commitment to good governance, transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law in the territory.

Dr O’Neal-Morton was appointed as the Permanent Secretary in the Premier's Office on March 12, 2020.

Now that the greedy tyrant is gone, Wheatley is standing like a true leader. It doesn’t matter if you know these people or their families, if you had hands in the mess, you gotta go. Nothing personal, it’s business. All those stifling FOGIES THAT WAS SITTING AROUND HOLDING BACK THE TERRITORY FROM PROGRESSING FORWARD MUST BE DISMISSED ASAP. ALL YOU OVER 50 CROWD WITH THE SAME FOGEY MENTALITY AND WAYS OF THINKING, YOU ARE NOW PLACED ON THE BACK BURNER.

Look how Bvi belongers rejoice over the downfall of their own while others stand up for theirs.

The outcome of all this is going to be interesting because the last premier did not act on his own. He had a full slate who sat and let him do as he pleased . My grandmother always say the harbourer is worse than the thief. It is obvious that they did not like some decisions THEY made because as soon as Fahie is absent they changed the ministries back. It’s obvious they are followers and not leaders.

@Papa Dom you don't understand they were afraid of the *Head Coach*? It look like he had a rope tied around their neck and tape on their mouths. I can imagine reading their minds because they must be shouting, FREEDOM!! I'm glad the Head coach is gone because he sure has this country in a mess. And what makes me so mad is that he continued to hide behind Jehovah. What a shame. I wonder if he in the detention centre singing from good to great!

Your grandmother just gave the best description of why most of the world hates the BVI financial services - just one aspect of our famously low morals and high corruption.
That’s what we do - we create companies that harbor money the thieves steal.
And inside the BVI everyone is so righteous!! ????

He should inform the reason why he sent her on leave at this moment. How can the Premiers Office be throughly investigated w/o the PS Secretary there? This does not look good.

Drain the swamp!! Now I'm seeing TRANSPARENCY & people will be held ACCOUNTABLE for all the CORRUPTION over the years!! Yes Governor, love the approach of putting these theives under scrutiny. A COI should be done every 2-4 years!!

WOW! How many will be found guilty when all of this is over? How many will get their jobs back if found innocent? This is one BIG MESS I am happy to say I m not part of. This is very very serious and embarrassing. The top people in charge are rolling down that steep hill they built so wickedly.

LOL, the top dogs that were walking around like peacocks with their chests poke out and fanning out their tails, LOL are sliding down the steep hills in the sewer that is running off from the steep hills. Be gone all of you. Slide right into the hands of the law that awaits you at the bottom of the hill, see ya, wouldn’t want to be ya.

There are leaders that were members of the VIP Cabinet, eventhough they have not as yet told our current Governor that there are under investigation, they are, but they don't as yet recognized to what extent that they are..
Whether one by one or more, they will soon be told. The former Premier Andrew Fahie isn't going dow alone. He will named some names, and even if he doesn't, the truth of former corrupted VIP illegal government activities will come to lifgt during these CoI probed.

I dou our local prison will be able to accommodate all these new tenants. The governor along with the UK need to implement a contingency plan immediately. Maybe some could do their sentences in the UK.

Wasn’t this PS also involved in giving approval for reclaiming land at the bottom of Havers?? On top of juvenile mangroves that were trying to be established? It really didn’t make sense to do that. Who else was involved in those approvals to reclaim/make land??

Let the UK clean up this mess first and maybe some of us will think about returning. Also, the locals need to understand that this does not have to do with the VI vs. UK; it has to do with good governance. It does not make sense to have such expensive homes and we do not have a functioning public high school, we have to grocery shop in St. Thomas and to travel to Florida for medical care.

Seems like exciting times in the BVI. We can't wait to see a lot of people locked up.mistakes or bad decisions are not crimes.
maybe one day we will get to investigate ENGLAND for all the wrongs they have done around the world.
But no only Black countries need someone to look over their shoulders.Even the COI say we don't need the to
look at the Police force cause we have an English man over it, but customs and Immigration have to vetted
Lets stop destroy our country and it's people because some people got caught doing wrong.
