ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A Bidders’ Conference for the construction of the Virgin Islands’ first Purpose-Built Immigration Detention Centre was recently hosted by the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA).

The conference, according to the RDA, brought together shortlisted construction firms as the competitive procurement process moves forward.

‘Insights & expectations’

Led by the RDA’s technical team, alongside design consultant Trojan Designs, the conference provided bidders with greater insight into the construction scope, technical requirements and procurement expectations for the project.

The Immigration Detention Centre will be the first specially designed facility of its kind in the Virgin Islands, developed to international standards to provide a secure, fit-for-purpose environment that strengthens the delivery of immigration processes.

The deadline for bid submissions is October 5, 2026.
