Prince & Princess parents: “They worked hard for it, they deserve it.”
Exclusively, in a conversation with the mother of the recently crowned 2012 Prince, Mariah Hopkins and the mother of the Princess Chrystal Authurton, both exclaimed that regardless of what anybody said, their kids deserved it.
Ms. Authurton told this news site, that unlike the other competitors, their kids were consistent in every segment, and had the judges and the audience on their toes every time they entered the stage.
CeRayiah Authurton and Jayque Hopkins of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School were crowned Prince and Princess on July 15, 2012.
Ms. Hopkins stated that, “this is something the kids made up their mind for on their own, not a parent entering them. They gave their all and did their best because they know what it means to win.”
She added that in preparation for the show, the kids started practising two months prior, three times a week, and in the month of the show, it was decreased to every Saturday.
A friend of the Authurton family, who attended the show, said “people will forever talk bad, and forever say that people cheat, but no cheating went on tonight, everybody got the correct position based on the efforts they gave.”
Chairperson of the event, Hon. Alvera Maduro Caines said, “it was a very tough competition, but the best couple won.”
The mothers told this news site, that they are proud of their kids, and it was a moment that they and their children can cherish for a long time. “No one can take it away,” said Ms. Authurton.
Through her son’s rousing performance, depicting Martin Luther King Jr. and speaking about the accomplishments of the VI, Ms. Hopkins said that during and after the show, she received messages from individuals saying that he will be the next Premier. “I’m leaving his life decisions up to him.”
The mothers stated that both the Prince and Princess are honour students.
