ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley recommissioned the MV Vigilant to His Majesty’s Customs fleet.

A statement from the Premier’s Office on October 1, 2026, said the MV Vigilant back on the water brings renewed strength to the Virgin Islands’ border protection efforts.

Its return bolsters His Majesty’s Customs’ capacity to patrol, monitor and inspect vessels across the Territory’s waters, and respond to suspected violations.

Gov’t committed to stronger border management- Premier

Premier Wheatley, who is also the Minister responsible for Customs, said the vessel’s return reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening border management and ensuring His Majesty’s Customs has the resources and operational capability to carry out its mandate.

The Customs Department, one of the revenue-collecting departments of the Government of the Virgin Islands, is responsible for collecting and accounting for a substantive amount of the Territory’s annual revenue.
