BRASILIA, Brazil, SA- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) is currently in Brazil on his second leg of three high-level meetings overseas.

Premier is attending the Caribbean Development Bank's (CDB) Heads of Government Conference in Brasilia, Brazil from June 11 to 14, 2025.

The opening ceremony of the CDB’s 55th Annual Meeting placed key focus on resilience and collaboration, and highlighted the region’s collective drive toward building resilient institutions, sustainable development, enhancing collaboration among Caribbean nations, and strengthening private sector partnerships.

Purpose of Meeting

According to the Government Information Service (GIS), in a press release on June 11, 2025, Premier Wheatley’s presence, among other regional leaders, signals the Government’s commitment to these goals.

The CDB meeting is being observed under the theme, “Building the Future: Resilient Institutions for a Greener, Stronger, and Inclusive Caribbean” and brings together regional leaders, international partners and development experts to chart a path toward institutional resilience, economic competitiveness and inclusive growth for its Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs).

The meeting’s agenda is crafted to directly address the most pressing development challenges faced by the Caribbean.

Premier Wheatley previously attended the C-24 Conference in New York from June 8 to June 10, 2025, and will also travel to St Vincent and the Grenadines, where he will attend the Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority Heads of Government meeting from June 16 to June 20, 2025.

I don't think that the CDB Conference is a waste of money. Sometimes your network determines your net worth. The key here is how the Premier engages and networks with the various stakeholders at the meeting.
