Premier Wheatley 'hopeful' gov’t's accounts will be made 'current' soon
He said this during the Continuation of the Fifth Sitting of the Third Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
“We have a lot of more work to do as it pertains to getting our accounts current, and I’ve been assured that quite a lot of work is being done by the Treasury, by the Auditor General.”
Premier Wheatley added that he is “hopeful” that soon the government’s accounts will be up to date as required in the Constitution.
HoA approved $2+ in excess spending from 2017
Members of the House also passed a motion approving two million, eight hundred and five thousand, and ten dollars for money expended in excess of the amount appropriated by the House for 2017.
“This is coming here now because, of course, the Auditor General…has submitted to the Ministry of Finance information that is accurate and that needed to be reconciled, and we have amounts which vary from what the House of Assembly would have passed.”
Premier Wheatley said the HoA must regularise its records and the official records by having the House “adjust these records”.
He added that he made it clear to the Ministry of Finance that everything needs to be done to get these accounts up to date. "They have assured me that, yes, of course we had 2018, 2019, 2020 currently with the Auditor General and that the Auditor General, very shortly, within a matter of weeks, will receive 2021, 2022, 2023, and we press on to ensure that we get 2024 and 2025 moving in the way it should."
Premier said the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen, and work is being done to ensure it is completed.

Yes they promised soon, but soon never comes. All politicians are liars. The difference between them is that some politicians tell more lies than others to the us because truth demands genuine accountability in all it's form and action. God's words alone is ultimate truth, that means, God words vary not from true accountability and purpose, and his love for the betterment of mankind is universal, that includes all of the people of the British Virgin Islands.best interest.
The way it should would have 2025 already audited and reviewed. How are we expected to take them seriously.

No audited accounts for over 12 years now.
Corruption Galore
Do we assume that everyone and the Minister for Finance got paid during these years.
Would it be unreasonable to ask why the job that they are supposed to do was not done?
What action has been taken against responsable people?
Other than the action of them getting paid and the job not getting done for:-
2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026.
