Premier Smith congratulates VI’s X Factor finalist

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – According to a GIS press release, Premier and Minister for Tourism Dr. D. Orlando Smith, OBE joins with the people of the Virgin Islands (VI) and fans around the world in congratulating Melanie Amaro on her splendid performance last evening during X-Factor’s final performances aired on Fox, Channel 11, at 9pm, local time.

Premier Smith said that Melanie’s unforgettable performance during both rounds did not only receive a whopping “thumbs up” from the judges, but captivated and moved the Territory as loud cheers erupted throughout the community.

Hon. Smith said, “Melanie’s desire to be the best and to win is definitely the true spirit of the Virgin Islander. We are proud of her impeccable performance and we look forward to seeing her win the $5M recording prize.”

In early December, Premier Smith met with Melanie’s mother, Debra "Jan" Amaro formerly Jan Sylvester and conveyed that the people of the VI were excited for her.

“We are pleased with Melanie’s achievement. Let her know that we are thrusting our weight behind her 110 percent; in fact, all hands are on the deck voting for her,” Premier Smith said, adding, “I understand that there UP’s Cineplex has donated Cinema One for a ‘let’s go Melanie’ viewing beginning this evening from 7pm. I will certainly be there and look forward to seeing many of our fans as we cheer on this young star of the VI.”

Those who cannot attend are invited to tune in to Fox to witness the season finale of the X-Factor at 9pm local time where the results show will be revealed.

Ms. Amaro who was born in Florida, United States of America (USA) lived in the VI at the age of three years old. She attended the D&D pre-school, Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary, Althea Scatliffe Primary School and the BVI High School, now the Elmore Stoutt High School.

    DR SMITH Y SYSTAH JOYCE DIDN'T GET THIS KIND OF RECOGNITION WHEN SHE WAS LEAVING THE OTHER DAY TO REPRESENT THE COUNTRY IN MONSERAT. NOT EVEN MONEY AYO WAS TRYING TO ASSIST THE YOUNG LADY WITH SHE HAD TO BE UP AND DOWN LOOKING SPONSERS WITH A PAPER TO HELP HERSELF NOW U CAN BE HERE WITH MELANIE WHO IS NOT A BVISLANDER AND TREATING HER LIKE SHE IS YOUR OWN! IT IS A TRUE SAYING A MAN WILL LOOK AFTER A PORK CHILD BETTER THAN HIS OWN.
