DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley has said he is pleased with the level of consultation for the Liquor Licences Act, 2019, noting that it was important that a cross-section of persons was engaged.

Speaking during the debate on the bill at the Eighth Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom on November 15, 2022, Dr Wheatley said, “It is important when you make legislation that you engage persons who are involved in the activity, whether persons who are patrons or persons who are business owners.”

‘I don’t know if I have sinned’

It was while making this point that Dr Wheatley said he occasionally indulges in strong drinks.

“I don’t know if I have sinned because I read in the Bible Jesus turned water into wine so that the party could keep going.

“So I don’t know what persons' beliefs are as it pertains to it but I believe everything in moderation…and they say wine good for your heart sometimes. It is made from grapes and grapes are very healthy. So every now and again I am a partaker, just occasionally, in strong drink,” the Premier stated.

The Premier also pointed out that the Liquor Licenses Act, which governs the sale of intoxicating liquor in the Virgin Islands, was enacted on May 11, 1964. He said since then few amendments have been made, with the last revision dating back to 1981.

New changes proposed

Among the changes in the new act currently in committee stage, instead of police officers doing the inspection of premises for the liquor licensing process, the Minister will designate suitable public officers to act as inspectors.

“The idea, Madam Speaker, is to have a team of inspectors to conduct the inspections.”

Also, under the current act, the Magistrate hears applications on only two days per year; however, the new act caters for more hearing days, which would eliminate the need for temporary liquor licenses to be issued by the Governor.

So eat plenty of grapes and water, causing it to ferment in your belly and you will have instant wine, making you high as a flying kite. LOL LOL. Just kidding, lol.

The magistrate should only be dealing with issues of law when it comes to the act. The police should remain as the body in charge of inspections. Also, similarly the same way the trade license are granted so should the liquor license. There is no need to go to a hearing for such. Hearing should only be in reference to breaches of law. You are moving backward and not forward.

Most wines that are produced today are manufactured on a large scale and contain high levels of alcohol, sugars, and additives. Biblical wine was grown and produced in the most natural way possible. Therefore, it was composed of low levels of both alcohol and sugar. Yall just makin an excuse to be drunk when we as a lost people have no reason to be celebrating all day and night. Drinking and celebrating seems to be the norm on a daily basis when in biblical times it was during times of great importance.

A false Theologian is no lest than an ignorant, and arrogant deceiver.

Truth, wine does not have to strong to called wine. Wine can be made from various fruit juices, but it was a common practice to make wine from grape juice. The practice to mix in alcohol in wine because a practice long after Jesus had made wine or turned water into wine

Our Premier has given himself new assignment. He has become, in his deluded the mind, an accurate interpreter of the Holy scriptures. No wonder why the United Government is so corrupted, when one exalted himself to give advice of a wrong opinion on an issue, that he know very little about.
This man is a danger to himself, and to the people of this country at large.

Wine is mocker, strong drinks is raging, (causes arguments, and fights that often lead to murder or serious physical harm.) whoever deceived themselves by it is not wise. Proverbs 20:1.

Everyone was giving freedom of choice to drink strong drinks or not to drink strong drinks, facts.

Truth, our current Premier is not a wise man. He is unfit to lead the people of this country in the way of good governance, facts
Coming next general election no true Christian will vote for a person of this mindset. No, no, no, they wouldn't.
Some church attenders will, but true Christians will not, until he first genuinely apologize, and repent.

To the self proclaimed Christian community: Are you a Christian or a question, which one?

Inspectors changed may be a good for the territory. All them crooks who were constantly covering up for their friends may stop. All them who laughing in your face pretending to be a friend yet so crooked. They are those who even filled out papers for crooked friends then take them to governor to be signed. From bar to clubs and them crooked inspectors laughing at the public and govenor. Acting governor knows and is well aware of what is happening in these virgin islands. Let's just hope these new inspectors would do what is right treat business owners fair and treat the public fair. Old people say time longer than twine. You would hear.
