Premier Fahie wants political unity in St. Kitts & Nevis
According to Premier Fahie, “It is with distinct pleasure and honour that I accept your invitation to be present today and to share in this special occasion for your party, in spite of my busy schedule passing my first budget on Friday, and a whole week of budget debates at home. Accepting your invitation for me was a no brainer,” he said.
The Rat Trap
Hon Fahie in underscoring the importance of political parties working together said, “Although we are here with PAM… PAM along with CCM [Concerned Citizens' Movement] and PLP [People's Labour Party] can remain laser-focused on the task at hand, it is important for Pam to understand, it is important for CCM to understand and it’s important for PLP to understand, that story is the rat trap.”
He spoke on the story of a trap where a rat warned some other barnyard animals of the impending threat in the farmhouse, all ignored until the trap caught a venomous snake, bit the farmer’s wife and the animals including a chicken, cow and pig were slaughtered for food in the events leading up to her death.
“If you think that the rat trap was for PAM alone, you might be surprised what will happen,” he warned.
Hon Fahie told those gathered, therefore, “We are all connected… united you stand and divided you will fall, what affects me today will at some point time tomorrow also affect you,” he said.
Working Together
Further, Premier Fahie told the convention that “Unity is strength, and when your neighbour house is on fire, you have to throw water on yours. So you PAM cannot mind its own business and don’t help CCM,” he further implored.
“Be mindful that three of you working together as one will yield the victory you seek… unity is strength, unity always brings change and sustains success,” he says.
Premier Fahie was the Keynote Speaker at 54th Anniversary PAM Convention at the invitation of Party Leader and Deputy Prime Minister, Shawn K. Richards.
