SUB BASE, St Thomas, USVI- The Virgin Islands’ third Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) will be the keynote speaker on St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands (USVI) at an event hosted by the League of British Virgin Islanders on Saturday March 14, 2020.

The occasion will be the second Dr Pearl I. Varlack Prayer Breakfast, scheduled for 9:00am at Victor’s New Hideout in Sub Base, St Thomas.

Hon Fahie will deliver the keynote address based on the theme of “Strengthening Our Bonds of Kinship and Community”.

What is the League of British Virgin Islanders?

The League of British Virgin Islanders is a USVI–based non-profit organisation whose purpose is to foster the continued improvement of the Greater Virgin Islands community through scholarship, cultural exchanges and community involvement.

According to President of the League, Mr Moleto A. Smith, “we strive to connect British Virgin Islanders and Belongers and persons with BVI heritage in a social and cordial atmosphere, while strengthening inter-relationship between the communities of the Greater Virgin Islands.”

Mr Smith, a former two-time USVI Gubernatorial candidate, noted that his group feels honoured to have Premier Fahie “accept our invitation as it demonstrates his commitment to cementing the long standing relationship between the British [Virgin Islands] and USVI and the value he places on the solid bond both residents share.”

Who is Dr Varlack?

Born on the island of Anegada, Dr Varlack was a dedicated and committed member of the League of British Virgin Islanders from its inception in 1988. She was also a highly respected educator whose life’s work reflects her invaluable impact on scholarship within the Greater Virgin Islands context. Dr Varlack passed away in 2013.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Julian Willock has also been invited to the prayer breakfast as a guest of the League.

    Our Premier is deeper than some persons thought. He can speak and represent at all level from the smallest to the largest. I was not one of his fans at first but I am now.
