Premier Fahie & Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard appear before Judge in Miami
The two were arrested at an airport in Miami on April 28, 2022, by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on charges related to conspiracy to import a controlled substance and money laundering.
The hearing coincided with today’s release of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) Report, which, among other things, concluded that the VI constitution and elected government should be suspended due to concerns about serious dishonestly in governance.
According to Reuters, Premier Fahie and Maynard, dressed in what appeared to be prison uniforms, appeared via Zoom in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Hon Fahie did not speak other than to state his name and date of birth and agree for the hearing to be conducted online.
Preliminary Hearing set for Wednesday
Judge Jonathan Goodman scheduled a pre-trial detention hearing for Wednesday, May 4, 2022, and a preliminary hearing for May 13, 2022.
Assistant US Attorney Frederic Shadley asked the US Magistrate Judge to keep both Fahie and Maynard detained prior to their trial.
The arrest of Premier Fahie has sent shockwaves across the Virgin Islands and fresh fears that the United Kingdom will surely seek to impose direct rule and setback all efforts to make the Virgin Islands ready for self-determination.

There is a dark cloud over the Territory presently and we the people must be united and pray fervently for God to set us free from all domination of Colonialism. Suspension of the Constitution is a retrograde step in the development of the Territory. The Premier knew that he had to regularize the immigration status of many persons who were living here for decades without any form of status and that was done to the annoyance of the former governor Jaspert. He wanted to know by what authority the Premier can do that for the people.
As I am writing this article, I wonder where are the three members of Her Majesty Opposition who were counting their chickens before the eggs are hatch. They were hoping to have the government placed in their hands on a platter. They were casting lots to know who will the fountain bless. But God has the final say. At this point in time no one wins and we will have to take orders from some one who does not look like us. Unless we are united we will all fall miserably.

We know the other set of people are probably in their way to try to rule us and are rejoicing over our premier’s downfall, but BVI landers we MUST stick together. We must fight for our country!!
