ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, Hon Lorna G. Smith (AL) has asked that as persons in the Virgin Islands (VI) celebrate Christmas, they must do so while offering a prayer for regions that are in conflict.

The Minister in her 2023 Holiday message has encouraged the people of the VI to, “let's cast our minds beyond the shores of the BVI to the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, and parts of the Sudan.”

Hon Smith added, “We know that thousands of innocent lives have been lost. Obviously, this continues to be a tough and sad time for the people who live there. Let's pray for peace in these regions.”

Pray that Christ brings comfort - Hon Smith

In her holiday message, Hon Smith added that angels came down on earth to celebrate the birth of Christ our Lord more than 2000 years ago, and as such, the prayer is that Christ would bring comfort to those who mourn," she said.

“May this Christmas season be a very happy one for you and your family. And make good health, peace and prosperity light your path in 2024. My husband, Orlando, and her family join me in extending wishes to you and yours,” she said in closing.

Hon Smith also urged that persons in the VI, share with those in need and share love in a tangible way for the holidays.

Fine, but we must also practice what we preach. People here don’t even care about each other. Look at the way some people treat each other in this place. The backstabbing, bad mindedness envy and greed is real.

Shouldn’t she be praying for peace in the BVI and doing something about the crime rate? What happened to the Governments Anti Crime Strategy?

Hon. Lorna Smith, Deputy Premier of the British Virgin Islands. It sad to know that your spiritual knowledge of the Devine value is minimum at best. According to biblical principles the true christians believers were told to pray for wellbeing (good) of all human everywhere. Presently there is 195 recorded nations on this this planet, a lesser number of ethnicity and hundreds of variation of language spoken.
War is a continuing negative behaviors among people everywhere on this planet. Why then have you ask of us, a tiny Overseas Territory under the UK's rule, and baptized in division among ourselves, to pray for only for Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine? Of the more than eighth billions of people now living on this planet and one hundred and ninety-five nations only three national people you know that need prayers?

You are the current Deputy Premier of the BVI. This country is experiencing a Civil War, as are Ukraine, Israel and Palestine. The majority of people that are living in the BVI are suffering due to this shameful political Civil War. How much do you really care? If you truly care, prove that you do by your action. Your words so far don't help relieve nor do they shift attention away from mismanagement of our finances

It seems that black people are the go-to group for all the world's problems. In sweat and blood, we blazed a civil rights trail for all the world's immigrants, refugees, feminists, lgbt, and now neo-nazi's and religious extremists. I guess that's progress, maybe we should replace China as the world's diplomats.

Praying is the art of actually doing nothing, feeling good about it and hoping someone else will deal with the problem. Real action is needed.

You have to pray for your own wellness first then you would be well enough to pray for others.
If your Eye is unhealthy so is your body, if you want to be good to others you first have to be good to self or you wont know how to be good at all.
Lady start at home then you could look at the outside.
    Charity begins at home.
I'm not bashing the Lady but clean up yourself before you look at dirty people. You cant give Love if you dont have it.
Counting starts with ,1, 2, 3 . Reading ,starts with A, B , C singing starts with doh, Rey, me, Love is begins at home with Family . Unity is not about who got Money ,or who you see as Big Financially..
