WEST END, Tortola, VI – Parts of West End Tortola are currently without power after a boat has inadvertently hooked onto some lines, causing damage to the infrastructure officials from the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) have informed.

Officials at the power company said to address this issue, they will need to temporarily disconnect power from Fresh Water Pond down to the West End Ferry Dock to begin repairs.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we work to resolve the situation,” officials from the BVIEC said in a notice to the media.

Some affected residents have since told our news center that power has been restored in some areas.

Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) will bring more information as it becomes available.

VINO never sleeps. Always on top of everything. I never even look at the other news because they are always behind or copying what VINO has already reported. Good job!

A friend of mind once said that if someone in the bvi discovered a cure for cancer tonight, there would be small groups of people and bloggers against it in the morning!

Well some important action residents and businesses can take to prevent outages is to ensure vegetation on their properties is trimmed at least ten feet away from bviec power lines.

Really would like to see a boat hooking an elevated power line in that area of West End!

Who is policing the frequency of these power outages and the reasons?
