Walwyn, is allegedly all back together ahead of the party's April 18, 2026, close special convention to elect party officials. Photo: Government of the Virgin Islands

BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Social commentator and host of Honestly Speaking, Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, has revealed a potential list of National Democratic Party (NDP) for the next general elections, saying that the NDP family is back together.

During the March 24, 2026, airing of his radio programme, Skelton-Cline said, “I understand that the National Democratic Party is back together again, the family…Everybody except one, one of the At-Large members, is sitting in the Virgin Islands Party government.”

He also said he wants to believe that this is so.

Hons Walwyn & Turnbull back with NDP

Skelton-Cline added, “Nobody is confirmed. We understand that they are having a series of meetings that will lead up to the 18th of April, where they will be choosing or making official their leadership.”

The potential list, according to him, has been floating around in the public and made its way to his desk, also consists of Leader of the Opposition, Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6) and Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2). The NDP, in a March 25, 2026, press release, confirmed that Hons Walwyn and Turnbull have reunited with the party.

Walwyn led a coup against his now fellow NDP member Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) in March 2025 to grab the title of Opposition Leader. Now that there is one party in the Opposition, it is unclear if Hon Walwyn will remain or whether he will relinquish the title to Hon Skelton.

The potential list, as revealed by Skelton-Cline, broken down by districts, is as follows:

  • District One- no confirmed or potential candidate yet
  • District Two- Hon Melvin M. Turnbull
  • District Three- Mr Aaron F. Parillon
  • District Four- Ms Zoe J. Walcott
  • District Five- Mr Troy E. Christopher
  • District Six- Hon Myron V. Walwyn
  • District Seven- Mrs Brenda Tye or Mrs Perline R. Scatliffe-Leonard
  • District Eight- Hon Marlon A. Penn
  • District Nine- Mr Coy W. Levens

“This is a HEW hockey stick of a slate,” Skelton-Cline said.

Six potential At-Large candidates

He also revealed six potential At-Large candidates for the NDP, including Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL), the present NDP Interim Chairman, Bishop John I. Cline, Ms Janice A. Stoutt, Dr Kedrick D. Pickering, Shereen D. Flax-Charles, Mr Mark H. Vanterpool, Sandy U. Underhill, and Mrs Rosita Scatliffe-Thompson.

“These persons are potentially outside of the elected ones, are candidates who are offering themselves to this country for the advancement and developments and the key to all of this is going to be who emerges as the leader,” Skelton-Cline added.

A closed special convention of the NDP is scheduled for April 18, 2026, where delegates and candidates will elect party leaders.

I’m not a high-priced advisor but ill save you some money , here is my take : the NDP has a credibility problem, and it’s not going away anytime soon. Until April 18 comes and goes—and people actually see what kind of leadership emerges—no one is going to believe the internal dysfunction that broke the party has been fixed.
Right now, the public isn’t buying the idea that the pettiness and infighting are behind you. If anything, it looks like more of the same. If the goal is to rebuild trust, then the smarter move would be to bring in someone who can actually unify the party and move it forward without all the baggage. Someone like Mark Vanterpool fits that description—he has the business experience, the political track record, and, more importantly, the ability to bring people together. Because truthfully if one of the current four ends up leading, there’s a strong chance it just reopens old divisions instead of closing them.

Just wondering!!! They are having a hard time working their way back from all that confusion that split the party. Wonder what they would do if a snap election was called today ???????? Tensions are still very high. Very concerned if country is the real priority here. We will see.

We have seen this sad story before. Not one of the present 13 getting my vote. Maybe Ronnie who ain't greedy for money. This is like a dog going back to eat its vomit. A set of opportunists waiting to spend taxpayer money on travel and their friends? I hope that new party come good: A13MG - all 13 need to clear of. Especially that power mad Myron.

Shaina Smith or Archibald Christian should seriously consider running in the First. I believe any of the two have a good chance of beating Dr. Dawson and getting the First this time around. Not sure what gives with Zoe in the Fourth, but I would've put Sandy Underhill as a candidate there instead. Brenda Lettsome-Tye is probably more capable, but Perline Scatliffe Leonard appears to be more engaged with the public and should be chosen for the Seventh. In terms of At Large, I would suggest Ronnie Skelton, Janice Stoutt, and Mark Vanterpool. I Have a hard time picking a fourth At Large from the remaining names. Not a guaranteed win, but it would give the NPD a better chance than last time.

Hon. Archibald Christian was an effective member and was the first person to talk about the beautification of the territory, he did not want to be a part of the pettiness and infighting and was one of the first to step away,Thats not having no balls that leadership and maturity. Right about now we need that kind of adult thinking in th territory. He truly is one who is not fighting for power but for the good of the territory.

Same set of lame career politicians wanting to suck on the HRH Treasury again fof personal gains. Most of the females mentioned are not people persons. Another severe beating for NDP 2.0

With all the tensions and alliances and going and coming, this crew is ten times better for this country than the V-I-P. The V-I-P is made up of brillian, educated, lazy jackasses who can only spend money and editorialize or run them mouth full stop. We need persons in our community who knows what they are doing. I am not into personalities, but I really would have left Myron and Mitch where the hell they were, in their alliance. However, I love Ronnie Skelton, Marlon Penn, Coy Levons, Janice Stoutt, Troy Christopher and Parillon. They will do a hundred times more for the country with Ronnie Skelton at the helm than these VIP has done in eight years spending so much money. You think they would have had the Disaster Preparedness Building and the Complex sitting there so long unfinished, et cetera? Say what you want VIPers, anybody voting for your party, especially this election are barnicles, clingers, gravy train riders, persons with palms up and not thinking country at all, just themselves.

Dead on arrival. Myron, Marlon and Mitch will win their seat. The problem with NDP is the leadership position. Claude wants his uncle and if he doesn’t get the leadership everything mash up again.
Nobody wants to see John Cline.
VIP will win the next election.
The in house fighting continues with the NDP. Local don’t want Myron because his parents are from the island.
Pure confusion in the NDP camp. A set of recircle politicians. All they want is money from the treasury to help themselves and families.

Who’s the lead jockey for this dysfunctional family?! Ronnie gonna spend his gwop for ALL dem egos to win? Or is Kangaroo Jack going to fund their run so HE can have a say in the back room wheeling and dealing? Will the dysfunctional family have their possible largest vote getter to be Premier; or Deputy Premier? Will the party chairman (if a district rep) be the premier?

The ‘original’ boys club members IF successful will want the lions share of the spoils - I.e. MINISTRIES!!
So the (3) ‘M’s will want ministries, Cuban another ministry & Skelly the last ministry. That leaves the rest of the lot doing exactly what?!?! Yah….pass….
