ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As the plot thickens between the showdown of the UK-appointed Governor Daniel Pruce and the Police Service Commission (PoSC), our Government House sources have revealed some more information.

The sources, speaking to our newsroom this morning, November 10, 2025, have confirmed that Governor Daniel Pruce, in his relentless determination to have a UK national head the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), recommended a Richard Ullger to the PoSC last week.

However, the same sources have confirmed that the PoSC has rejected the Governor’s choice in a letter over the weekend and stood by its recommendation of the current acting Police Commissioner of Police (CoP) Jacqueline E. Vanterpool.

Daniel Pruce a polarising Governor?

Last week, Mr Pruce, a now controversial and polarising figure in the Territory, ousted the Acting CoP Ms Vanterpool and reverted her to the Deputy Commissioner’s post. This is a move opposed by a majority of Virgin Islanders and the Government of the Day.

The move will take effect on November 18, 2025, when Mr Ullger will take up the top job for an unknown period. As usual, Mr Pruce is expected to reject the PoSC recommendation and hide behind Section 97(2) of the Constitution, which gives him discretion.

There are many qualified law enforcement persons, both locally and regionally, who can hold the post of CoP; therefore, there is no need to bring in another UK national, according to political pundits, unless there is a hidden agenda to initiate a reign of terror on the citizens of the Virgin Islands, according to some.

We will march!

Many social activists, the media, civil society, and religious leaders have described Mr Pruce's decision as racist, sexist and a colonial power grab and have planned a week of protest beginning today, Monday, November 10, 2025, at 3:30 PM in front of the Governor’s Office parking lot in Road Town, the capital city.

In spite of the recommendation, he decided on his own choice and that the UK fund the salary of his choice. It seem like she was a placeholder for his transition.
