‘Politics in these Virgin Islands trumps our faith’- Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline
“Division comes when self-interest is established. Part of the political molestation that I’ve been talking about for the last couple of weeks, and why so many families are unable to focus in this country, is because politics is our religion, politics is our faith,” he said during the show on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, titled ‘So You’re Still Not Ready’.
“I want to tell you, all of it is idolatry…Politics in these Virgin Islands trumps our faith.”
Everybody wants to be Premier
Mr Skelton-Cline said that over the last decade, and even before that, division in the Virgin Islands has grown more pronounced as selfishness and self-interest have intensified.
Everybody, he said, believes and feels that they should be Premier of this country.
“It’s almost, well, if she can do it, or if he can do it, then I can do it too, and it’s my time, and it’s my turn. To do what? You can’t even pay attention.”
Power struggles have shaped the Virgin Islands' political landscape of the Virgin Islands, although the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has been the only political party that has remained stable and continues to rally around its leadership.
