ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Information reaching our newsroom is that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is continuing to make arrests as the investigation progresses into the seizure of cocaine and firearm and the detention of two vessels at East End on July 19, 2023.

One of the boats detained was allegedly burnt and the other stolen, even while still in police custody.

“One seized vessel, suspected to be involved in ramming of the police vessel at sea, was set ablaze in a calculated effort to destroy evidence and another was reported missing,” Police had stated, adding that, fortunately, all necessary examinations were completed on both vessels by the RVIPF, and no relevant evidence was destroyed by these actions.

The vessel, ‘Donzi’, was in the compound of the Road Town Police Station when it was allegedly set ablaze.

It is unclear where the other boat was when it was reportedly stolen.

The RVIPF in a press release on Saturday, July 22, 2023, said three persons were arrested in relation to the operation on July 19, 2023, and several others were held in relation to the burning of the vessel and theft of the other.

More arrests allegedly being made

Police have since been silent regarding other arrests.

“All parts of the investigations into that seizure, as we have said over and over, is still very much active both locally and overseas,” was all Police Information Officer Diane L. Drayton said on July 24, 2023.

Sources close to the investigation have; however, informed our newsroom that more persons are being arrested as the investigation progresses.

the police need to stop the lies and taking the public for fools! Why have they not had a press conference to enlighten the public how security was breached not once but twice with evidence in their possession. If you have made arrests why don't the public know the names? Stop blowing smoke and just he honest and come fort with the facts! How can we have confidence in the police force when they have proven to be incompetent and not trustworthy?

Have they continued making progress in opening the west & cane garden bay stations... scrap that have they made progress keeping any of the stations open 24/7 for walk in? You think everyone wants police having their number?

Was the station closed while the evidence was burnt, will that negligence be apart of the investigation?

I ask because we all realize how useless you are at protecting us when the stations are closed and you are worrying about drugs which we have zero impact on our daily life’s other than being used as justification for control & speculation. majority back in shackles because of two minorities.

Guns and coke do not go together. Simple fact is people will put what they want into their body.

They can not call the police hence why they must be armed & the police enjoy this, they are not calling for reform. Stomping out drugs is about education based on facts not policing.

Foolish me thinking people can have a date on cane garden or west park across from the station and be safer but oh the stations are closed after dark....

Jesus. They sure know how to serve & protect the local community.

The burning of one boat in the custody of the police and stealing the other is a declaration of a brazen act against the police and that does not go well with the police and the governor. Whoever did that act does not know what effect it will have on the Territory. I am certain that there will be a response from the governor and the police force. Whatever form it takes some of us will not accept. I would like to urge the public to refrain from aggravating the situation because it will have a negative effect on ALL of us. Those who have eyes will see and those who have ears will hear. Talk half and left half.

The police working hands and glove with the drug dealers. Greed have a lot of them in the drug dealers pockets. So there are not many clean cops with entegrity. Mr. Commissioner look within your police force for the security breach involving the boat burning, and boat stealing while in police custody. This makes the police force look WEAK and INEFFICIENT. Ckean house.
