Police investigating ‘suspicious’ boat fires

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Officers of the Criminal Investigations Unit are leading investigations into two suspicious fires that occurred on Tortola within the past few hours.

The first fire took place last night, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Zion Hill, near Big Ben’s Gas Station, while the other took place early this morning, April 26, 2023, at Road Reef.

7 boats destroyed- Police

“In the fire near Big Ben’s Gas Station reported just before 10:00 PM last night, two boats were destroyed and one partially damaged, while at Road Reef Marina, a fire reported around 5:00 AM this morning destroyed one catamaran and four motor vessels,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release today, April 26, 2023.

Police said detectives are asking the public for any information that can help in identifying the perpetrator(s) or anyone concerned in carrying out such acts to provide that information confidentially through CrimeStoppers by calling 800-8477 (TIPS) or if overseas call 1-284-800-8477.
