ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Opposition legislator Hon Myron V. Walwyn (R6) has called out the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for its poor response to noise pollution complaints.

While addressing the Continuation of the Fifth Sitting of the Third Session of the Fifth House of Assembly on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Hon Walwyn brought up the issue, which he described as a growing cultural change in the Virgin Islands.

“On Sundays, this place used to be quiet because we were reverent people. You have people now blasting music; they just drive and park their vehicles anywhere in neighbourhoods.”

Hon Walwyn said the police are called daily on noise complaints in Baughers Bay.

:People are not respecting the living conditions of the people. You just come and park your vehicle, open the doors, and just blast music in a residential community without any care for people.”

No noise-measuring equipment but money for white police officers

According to Hon Walwyn, the police have said they lack the proper noise-measuring instruments to properly deal with this matter.

“No matter how you call the police, the police can’t do anything about it. Every minute you hear a story: ‘Oh, we don’t have the instruments to better this.’”

Mr Walwyn said that when the police come before the House during the Standing Finance sessions, they always ask for money.

“Everything they ask for they get, and most of the time they ask for money for bringing white people from England. Most times, that's what they ask for: to bring in police; and you want to tell me this little machine that’s supposed to measure whether something’s loud or not, with all the money we gave you, you telling me you ain’t got a machine till now.”

He said this being used as an excuse adding that the police need to do better.

“I'm waiting for them to come Standing Finance, because they’re not doing a good job in that respect. I appreciate the work they’re doing in other areas, but in this respect, when you call them on the issues of constant noise, it’s not acceptable.”

Hon. Myron Walwyn will tell it like it is, straight, bold, and clear. If there's one man can get our virgin islands back in order, with his leadership, he can. The man is destine for greatness.
