PLM is ‘splitting the NDP vote’- Claude O. Skelton-Cline
Mr Skelton-Cline said this on the October 13, 2026, airing of his show on ZBVI 780 AM, which was titled ‘Political Molestation’.
PLM was formed by former legislator Mr Mark H. Vanterpool after he lost the NDP Chairmanship to current Chair and Leader of His Majesty’s Opposition, Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) in April 2026.
PLM has no base in VI
“The PLM does not have a base in the Virgin Islands. They don’t have a base in the Virgin Islands,” Mr Skelton-Cline opined.
He said Mr Vanterpool has a base in Long Bush and not the entire Fourth District where he intends to run in the next general election.
“Not even the whole Fourth District, up Long Bush. If there’s any base, that’s where it is. There’s no base in East End, Long Look; there’s no base in Central Tortola; there’s no base in Cane Garden Bay, Baughers Bay, Windy Hill; there’s no base on Jost van Dyke, there’s no base in Virgin Gorda.”
Splitting the NDP vote, PLM candidates won’t win
Pastor Skelton-Cline asked, “What in God’s name are we doing? Who are we kidding with this stuff?”
The PLM has announced the following individuals as its candidates for the upcoming general election: Mr Vanterpool (District 4), Mr Clifton Forbes aka Tito (District 3), and Juan Richard Hatchett (At-Large).
He went further, saying that PLM candidates will not be elected to the House of Assembly. “None of these candidates are going to be elected to the House of Assembly…You’re splitting the NDP vote all over again…Who are we kidding?”
Mr Skelton-Cline added, “But some of us are going to sit around here, allow ourselves to be politically fondled, politically molested- to what end? The more and more I see this unfolding, the more I see the Virgin Islands Party expanding.”
