GREAT HARBOUR, Jost van Dyke, VI- Ms Tasha K. Bertie, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, has announced significant plans to improve health care delivery on Jost van Dyke.

This month, the Deputy Governor of the Virgin Islands, Mr David D. Archer, Jr., held a meeting of the Sister Islands Programme Unit Coordination Committee on Jost van Dyke.

Ambulance for Jost Van Dyke on island

Ms Bertie stated that the ministry has achieved important milestones in enhancing health services on the island. Notably, they have received a donation of an ambulance, which is now on the island.

Bertie also mentioned that funding has been allocated in the 2026 national budget to rehabilitate the transport station, a project that has long been needed. “We’re happy with that progress,” she added.

More health initiatives to be undertaken

Bertie further stated that, “There are other areas that we've been able to report on, from, Virgin Gorda, Anagada as well, but the progress in terms of what we've been able to do for the Ministry of Health and our Sister Island colleagues, and, as a territory, I think, has been welcomed, as well as appreciated, and we look forward to the efforts that we'll be able to execute, as we continue to do our work.”

The Office of the Deputy Governor said it is dedicated to strengthening service delivery across the territory, ensuring that residents of the Sister Islands receive a standard of service that is equitable, consistent, and aligned with that of Tortola.
