Pipes rolling in for RT sewerage project

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The procurement of pipes and construction of manholes for phase one of the Road Town sewerage project have commenced and physical work is expected to begin “very shortly” revealed Carvin Malone, Director of CBE Engineering Associates Limited.

“As we had mentioned before the staging area is opposite the Fire Station (Road Town) and persons would see that we have begun to build a fence there,” he told this news agency on March 1, 2012.

He explained that the manholes are currently being built in East End.

Furthermore, preparatory works have also commenced in the vicinity of Noel Lloyd Action Movement Park area to Vanterpool’s Pharmacy where the first set of pipes will be laid, Malone added.

Ten local contractors have been hired by the Ministry of Communications and Works to carry out the works. It is costing Government $866,681.

At the contract signing on February 3, 2012 the subject Minister Hon. Mark Vanterpool disclosed that “$588,000 are for the contractors, the purchase orders cost $128,908 and the agreements for the purchase orders amount to $149,088.”
