Pipe laying forces closure of road from EAPS to Chalwell Estate entrance this weekend
This project, which involves laying approximately 5,800 feet of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, aims to enhance water service and reliability from Diamond Estate to the Chalwell Estate/Soldier Hill Junction.
The volunteer group Operators Without Borders has been assisting with the pipe replacement and installation efforts on-site and is being managed and overseen by the Ministry of Communications and Works.
Project in home stretch
To facilitate the installation of the pipes, motorists are advised that the road will be closed on Saturday, November 15, 2025, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, between the Enis Adams Primary School (EAPS) and the Chalwell Estate entrance.
Mr Dean H. Greenaway, Communication Specialist with the Ministry of Communications and Works, urged motorists to use alternate routes.
During a Facebook live session, he stated, "Work has reached the home stretch in the Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate Pipe Laying Project, with 5,300 feet of the 5,800 feet of pipe laid."
He explained that work on the remaining 500 feet of pipe will commence at 9:00 AM today, Saturday, November 15, 2025, and continue into the evening, resuming on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
"This work will be done in the section of the road between the entrance to Enis Adams School and the entrance to Chalwell Estate."
Use alternative routes
Greenaway also mentioned, "Motorists travelling from Ke Villas in Carrot Bay are asked to use the Ayres Falls or Soldier Hill, Brewers Bay routes into town. Those planning to use the Joe's Hill route should take the Hana Hill, Threadfall route instead."
The specific cost or budget for the Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate Pipe Laying Project, which began on Monday, September 29, 2025, has not been publicly disclosed in the available government announcements and project updates.
