Pierre gets 7 years for Anegada drug bust
Magistrate Dr Velon L. John sentenced Pierre to three years in prison on charges of possession of marijuana; three years in prison on charges of importation of an illegal drug and one year in prison for illegal entry. The sentences will run consecutively.
Pierre was discovered along with co-accused Ralph James and Adrian Arthur on a boat containing over 500kg of marijuana that had been stuffed in ‘crocus’ bags in all parts of the boat.
The vessel, which one of the officers described as not being sea worthy, had been drifting in the waters for some days near Anegada on October 25, 2012 after it had broken down. The two other men pleaded guilty to similar charges and were sentenced last year.
Pierre was cautioned, reprimanded and discharged on a further charge of supplying or offering to supply and being concerned with the illegal drug.
He was represented by attorney Patrick Thompson while Principal Crown Counsel Tiffany Scatliffe appeared for the Crown.
