WICKHAM'S CAY I, Tortola, VI– A series of family-oriented activities has been launched by the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park, aimed at ushering in the New Year in fine celebratory style.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park revealed its lineup of activities for visitors and locals throughout November and December.

Activities Planned

The planned events include NYE Artist Launch set for Friday, November 14, 2025, Winter Wonderland (On The Lawn) from November 14 to December 28, 2025, Black Fri-Sat Super Sales from November 14–15, 2025,  Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, November 15, 2025 and Fungi Fest 2025 on Saturday, November 15, 2025 which is a cultural showcase celebrating Virgin Islands fungi music, traditional food, and heritage.

Deputy CEO Zoe J. Walcott announced that this year’s New Year’s Eve activities will be different, featuring two regional acts. An official launch to reveal these acts will take place on November 14, under the theme 'All That Glitters'.

"New Year's Eve, we actually have four local artists and bands, two DJs, but this time around, we've done it a little differently. We are bringing two regional acts.’’

'Grown & Lit section'

Walcott also noted that the venue will be enhanced this year with a designated space for adults. "We've done some changes this year in that we are utilising the luxury deck, and we're utilising the lawn for the artist's performance. So in the past, it would have been the lawn and the boardwalk. Now we've removed the movies, and we're having the artist perform by the BVI sign. So what we're doing is creating a grown and lit section, because we listen when our guests speak to us, and one of the comments coming out last year was that, you know, I don't mind hanging in the same area with my kid, I just don't want to hang with my kid."

Security measures

In light of a recent surge in crime within the Virgin Islands, CEO Vance M. Lewis addressed security measures being implemented to ensure the safety of all patrons at the Pier Park. He emphasised that there have been regular meetings with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and a private security firm to assess vulnerabilities and prepare for any potential issues during the events.

"They have been extremely cooperative in terms of helping us look at perhaps areas of vulnerability, and in terms of anticipating some of the issues that we might have, should it happen, and spread the word around, so we prepped, since a facility can be full of vendors and passengers, et cetera," Lewis said.

What a complete waste of time. These people have no idea what they are doing. Loud music once in a while and people around, that is not success, those things could be done at the market square. We need real forward thinking people in positions in order to elevate the pier park.

Zoe is on the right track. She is shaking things up. That is a good sign. I am hoping that she will one day come and swim out in the deep water, but first things first.

Is so disgusting! You guys brought Shagga Dog down the back? Passed by with my children and we all was high like a kite. Why it’s allowed so freely? Can’t even enjoy the PP without getting high.

How can you have no smoking laws in place with no consequence. Police have walked by time and time again and have never said anything to the bars or the people that consistently smoke. The security try they best but all they seem to do is talk. All the no smoking signs are useless. When it's not smoking Marijuana at the rum bar it's the domino table taking up the whole walk way or both....then is a next set of smoke on the way to the bathroom in the red building.....or how about the bad parking the bvi just like to have laws on the book but police and politicians are more friends with the criminals than actually applying the laws ment to keep the bvi safe. I have seen big politiciansand legislators in the mist if the smoke not saying one words....may thats the only way for them to get high off the secondhand smoke....for God sake the park has kids playing and all the Marijuana smoking affects their little lungs....is a group of us don't support nothing the park has going on because who spending money to be uncomfortable. The park is just one big ash tray.....never supporting
