BREWERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Second District Representative, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) for the second time has taken bush cutting into his own hands, to clear areas in his District with the help of community-spirited individuals.

In a series of photos posted on Facebook today Saturday, September 25, 2021, Hon Turnbull said, “A great spirit of community pride continues as Hon. Melvin Mitch Turnbull, and some great citizens within our distract tackle the bush that has overrun our roadsides."

"We are the difference and change we seek,” he went on to say.

Many opposition members have asked questions about the state of landscaping in the VI where several places can be observed with overgrown trees and branches blocking roadways, along with shrubs blocking sidewalks.

Hon Turnbull had previously done a cleanup exercise initiative in Mount Healthy and other Brewers Bay areas in August 2021.

Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) understands that funds have been recently approved for bush clearing throughout the territory.

it is a publicity stunt for Mitch! For years, the Brewers Bay area has been neglected by him. Everything is Cane Garden Bay. The $20,000 he was giving fake fishermen and farmers could have gone toward this cause

Why are you being so SALTY? How can cutting bush and grass be a publicity stunt. The man doing what he got to do. And by the way? The Brewers bay community could have taken taken care of that why wait for him to start doing it. Perfect sign of laziness.

I thought Solid waste department is responsible for bush cutting or is it Public Works?

Community Service should be for everyone. BVI should take a page out of the books of Rawanda.

I would agree, he is a good person. Sometimes he may slip up a bit but his heart is always in the right place and he means well.

He is a good rep down here and he is very much appreciated. I can’t speak for the rest, but Mitch is not going anywhere come next election. It is going to be a easy win for him.

Mitch I am proud of you. You are showing others what it means to serve and being proud of your territory. Too often lip service comes from representatives. One wonders if some realize why they were elected. Power and money seem to be the answer. Continue to serve well Mitch.h

So you are saying all the representatives should go and clean the bush. I don't think so. What should happen is that PWD and solid waste should get their worker to cut the bush.
Also the representatives could use some of their district money and get young men and women in each community to cut the bush.
