ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- While many residents have been on lockdown due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, one officer from the Public Works Department continues day and night to work.

He is Elridge C. Gumbs aka ‘Skelly’, who is part of a team responsible for the official road markings around the Territory.

During the continuous curfew, Mr Gumbs was on the roads in many different parts of Tortola, updating road markings, placing new ones, or just ensuring existing ones get a little touch-up.

Statistics show that clean, easy to read and understand road markings on main and secondary roads, highways and byways reduce accidents by up to 75%.

After the hard work of ‘Skelly’, contributing to keeping us safe on the roadways, now it’s up to each driver- including motorbike riders- to do their part to reduce accidents.

Mr Gumbs deserves kudos for his hard work and commitment to his road marking duties.

You don’t read. And perhaps if you’re not speaking for yourself, maybe you should, then try taking a few reading classes. The rest will follow the pictures, arrows and symbols. Now go hither and find yourself a book and try using it.
Great job Skelly and thank you.
