Persons feel scammed by EE/LL Festival Committee
The two events are a raffle that had a motor scooter as its main prize and which should have been drawn in July 2016 and a boat ride dubbed 'White and Bright Boat Ride' that was scheduled for November 2016.
"I was so shocked when the conversation came up recently about this committee. I remembered buying tickets for the raffle but after not hearing anything I disposed of the tickets thinking I missed the drawing. It was until my brother was talking about the boat ride that I got to know that raffle never was never drawn, nobody never got a bike, this is extremely bad," said a concerned East End resident who asked not to be named.
"When I asked a committee member if the raffle played, the member laughed and said hmmmm no comment," the source claimed.
The issue has also been raised on social media, especially Facebook, where ticket holders have been expressing their disappointment with the committee.
‘I feel scammed’
Another ticket holder told this news site that he, along with many others who bought tickets for the boat ride, feels "scammed."
Our sources confirmed that the East End/Long Look Festival Committee had received sponsors for the boat ride and has been selling tickets since around October 2016. It is alleged that the boat, which was identified to do the boat ride, was “not registered” and had some issues to fix before doing so.
A check on the committee’s Facebook page had a notice posted on November 11, 2016 alerting persons of the boat ride’s postponement.
“The East End Long Look Festival Committee regrets to inform the general public that the White and Bright Boat ride scheduled to take place tomorrow Saturday 12 November 2016 has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to bringing you White and Bright in the next few weeks. All tickets bought will still be valid,” the Facebook post read.
No other details on that event were posted since.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the East End/Long Look Festival and Fairs Committee, Sandra Potter-Warrican, told this news site that both events will come off once they are able to finalise some arrangements.
“I need to finalise details with the captain of the vessel. That’s where we are at, as soon as that is finalised then we will publish a new date," Potter-Warrican said of the boat ride.
Regarding the motor scooter raffle, she said: “All of those things are being worked on. As soon as I have them finalised then we will go and let the public know what’s going on.”

You have a problem go and buy yourself a boat your damn self he don't owe them anything... you dont know the man situation and the whole situation. It's the people's boat and if he want to postpone because of certain situations then he can. Stop moving !$%^& horny for events if you can't wait then go to another boat simple as that. He isn't the only one with a damn boat.
