Person who videotaped child in ‘porno act’ may face charges

The person accused of videotaping a pornographic act allegedly involving a girl under the age of 16 may face charges, according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF). Photo: VINO/File
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The person accused of videotaping a pornographic act allegedly involving a girl under the age of 16 may face charges, according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Public Relations Officer of the RVIPF Ms Diane Drayton confirmed with this news site that the matter is currently in the hands of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Ms Drayton was, however, unable to confirm whether or not the person who videotaped the alleged indecent act was the same person who had released it on social media and, if not, whether the person who did release it is also under consideration for charges by the DPP.

An East End, Tortola businessman, Magnus Rickie Latchman, 48, was charged in relation to an alleged video recording of him engaging in a sexual act with a girl. The video had flooded Facebook recently.

Latchman pleaded not guilty to the charge of indecent assault at the Magistrate’s Court.

The direct date of the recording and when it was made public are unknown to this news site but while the face of the two girls are hidden in the video, police were able to identify the location of the filming and the ‎identity of the adult man who engaged the female in the alleged act of indecency.

Virgin Islands News Online was also made aware of the video and was provided with a copy from concerned residents.

      Masa was wrong for putting the video out there, however, his intent was far from malacious. Behind that video he had a message that did not condone that behaviour and attempted to educate us as a community to the dangers ans pedophiles that prey on our young girls. Most of those who shared the clip missed the message in its entirety. Instead of sitting here behind our electronic devices bashing him why not make suggestions as to how he can get the positive messages across without all the baggage and negativity. Can some of us imagine what a better BVI we would have if there were more Masas out there. As a community we bear the burden of being my brothers keeper. When we see these young girls in compromising situations call them out instead of turning a blind eye because it's not my child. Where are the days when it took a village to raise a child. We have now adopted the American mindset were the child had all the power and everything is now child abuse.

      I remember the days that everyone in our community as children walked on eggshells. If I did something wrong it would be to my advantage to get home before the one who saw me caught up to me in an effort to avoid not one but two beatings. Now these children could careless about their behaviour or actions because parents are right there with them attempting to abuse anyone that speaks to them. Parents no longer have the ability to put the fear of God in their children.

      As a community we need to re-evaluate where we have gone wrong with raising these children. There is an old saying that the harbourer is just as bad as the thief. So in this instance parents we bear as much of the blame for these wayward children. They come home with something you know you did not provide, do we bother to ask how and where it was obtained? No

      As for these old nasty men out there each and all of them need to be exposed. They preyed on us and now they are preying on our children......BVI when are we going to take a stand against this kind of ABUSE.

      MASA....thank you for exposing that pedophile.....I Do not agree in the way it was exposed, however you were the one that brought it to the forefront.....Next time take it to the authorities

    I ain't condoning what happened, but it got some girls round this place telling men what they could do for them for a fee. I am not joking, a lot of us know about them, they want phone, hair and nails money, they catching rides along the road and coming on to me. offering b***j*** and other things. Yes, its unfortunate that this was happening, we all in East End know about it, people get hook ups for weave and things, but we need to put something in place to punish these girls also.

        Who ever wants Masa charged have a serious mental problem.       Thank u hey!!! had that video not get posted we probably would've heard bout the incident but no proof. Now because it out that nasty pervert got exposed & it's high time. Thinking back on it that dude a sicko for yrsssssss. When I was in my teens I had my baby with me cetching a ride home & he stopped. Before I could reach my destination he pulled out his lil vienna sausage bout suck it for him I was like hell no. That didn't work so he said ok just j**k it off. I was out the vehicle and walked my azz home tugging with my child. God only knows what else he done do & to whom it he did it. The number of ppl who could now say they never knew he was that type still bashing Masa for posting the vid rather than saying thanks for exposing his nasty rass.
