SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Ministry of Health is notifying the public that a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Virgin Islands attended a funeral held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church.

“All persons who attended the funeral should isolate for 10 days and contact the Public Health Unit from Monday, 29th March, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm to schedule your test. There is no payment associated with testing,” a press release from Government today, March 28, 2021, stated.

According to the press release, persons who had their COVID-19 vaccine 4 weeks ago, “will not be required to quarantine.”

Such persons are required to give this information to the Public Health Officer, who will verify.

Vaccination ‘strongly’ recommended

The Ministry of Health said it is “strongly” recommending that unvaccinated persons get their vaccine as soon as possible to prevent contracting COVID-19 or seriously ill from COVID-19 if exposed to an infected person.

“Please note that vaccination after recent exposure to the virus will not prevent disease from occurring but future COVID-19 infections.”

The public has also been asked to continue wearing masks, practice physical distancing (6ft) and good hand hygiene to reduce chances of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others.

I was not aware that these vaccines can prevent the spread of the virus? Why are persons exempted from quarantining if they have taken the vaccines?

Exactly...That was the first thing that came to mind...you don't gain immunity from one dose...even with the second dose u can still get the virus...so WHY would a statement be made that those who only had one shot don't need to quarantined?...makes no sense...I would hate to believe that this is some sort of fear tactic to get ppl to run to get vaccinated out of fear...because it will prove that the heads believe ppl can be easily controlled by fear...and that's an insult.

The vaccine does not stop you from getting infecting or spreading the virus.

It supposedly only stops you from showing symptoms.

Government needs to get their facts straight before they even start their campaign trying to trick people into getting the vaccine.
  • not so fast (28/03/2021, 13:21) Like (22) Dislike (5) Reply
Does the Vaccine prevent infection and transmission?

No substantive data are available related to impact of AZD1222 on transmission or viral shedding.

In the meantime, we must maintain and strengthen public health measures that work: masking, physical distancing, handwashing, respiratory and cough hygiene, avoiding crowds, and ensuring good ventilation.

Was the person given a special pass to attend the funeral? Was that the only place the person went to? Where was the person before the funeral? Who did the person interact with before the funeral (arent they supposed to be isolated too)? They saying those at the funeral need to isolate but did person just went to the funeral and just like that get infected there because this person ought to have come from somewhere? The vaccines do mean you are less likely to catch it . But only 1 person who is vaccinated will catch it for every 4 non vaccinated people. Vaccinated people have an almost 100% chance of not being seriously ill or dying if they do catch it. Non vaccinated persons can get very ill and between 1% and 2% of them will die.
      • Comment (28/03/2021, 21:27) Like (0) Dislike (0) Reply

I did not attend any of the funerals, but I can just imagine how much people that was at the funeral.
Persons in attendance may have already interacted with members of the public, employees and businesses. With no contact tracing, the entire public may need to self isolate for 10 days.

‘According to the press release, persons who had their COVID-19 vaccine 4 weeks ago, “will not be required to quarantine.”’

Why not, those persons can still become infected with this virus and spread it around. It is just more difficult for them to become severely ill from the virus. Why just target everyone else? I hope everyone understands what is going on here, in order to open the borders to persons with this illness.

People stop panicking every time a case arises.

People do not allow others to intimidate or scare you into rushing to get a vaccine especially when a case arises.

A vaccine does not prevent you from becoming infected or spreading the virus.

You can’t tell them what to do with their body and they shouldn’t be allowed to tell you.

If someone believes abortion is wrong, those for it would have the world to say and paint that person as infringing on someone else’s right to their body.

Take precaution and make the decision for yourself.

I appreciate the efforts that government has done so far to keep us safe despite what people with selfish agendas had to say but how can someone test positive for covid between Saturday and Sunday? That means that this person was tested days ago and before the results were confirmed the person was allowed to leave quarantine to attend the funeral. Many of the persons that went to the funeral have since went home, to the clubs, bars, church and other events this is BS. An investigation need to be held and someone held responsible for this breach of safety.

The blood of the risen Saviour is against you all!! No weapon that is formed against us shall prosper. The eternal God is our refuge an underneath us are His everlasting arms.

Loud mouth CSC himself said on his weekly program that the vaccine is NOT a cure; it does not stop one from transmitting the virus to another. It only stops you from getting seriously ill and being hospitalised. It prevents you from having to quarantine. You see the danger in this false information? If you can still get the virus and transmit it to other persons even though you are vaccinated you should be quarantined because you can have it and transmit it.

When you all get the real truth. Let us know. In the meantime STOP trying to force that suspicious vaccine on we BVIslanders. We are no fools!

Instead of following blindly instructions as if have no say in this matter which was almost the case...

How about questioning the narrative of mRNA vaccination and using logic instead of fear to make decisions.

While we’re at it question the narrative of how we go from no cases to a possible outbreak. Is there a weakness in the protocols??

I hear no boats running at night for a long time. No more to blame.

Also to be questioned is how many people if any have already been exposed to it while we had visa free travel from when we got sick like clockwork during the last active cruiseship season?

If we were exposed to it in this place in 2019 then locked down in 2020 how many people have anti bodies?

People do get the virus and recover naturally. Logically, because they curiously have no medication to cure it other than preventative vaccines...

What is the effectiveness of natural immunity vs vaccination for repeat exposure??

Is it possible to acquire traditional vaccines which have been around the block and not this new mRNA technology?

We’ve had vaccines for over a century but this is new new technology. Logically it is probably seriously irresponsible to conceive and attempt to mass inoculate the human race with untested technology.

What happened to the recent European hiccups should we be concerned with the pauses? Logically new data is a result of not having adequate data to begin with...

Could we recognize if all is not right for ourselves without handed down instructions, as they did? What if there are unknown long term side effects of this new tech??

What happened to flattening the curve, our curve is flat. And if you can still contract it and end up dying on a ventilator after being vaccinated the question remains were is the cure?

Has the temporary emergency vaccine become the permanent panacea. Is that it?

Social distance, vaccinate and hope you don’t get it still, because if you do that’s all we know...

Besides social distancing & vaccination where is the research going are we critically tapping into all the sources?

As a young healthy non g-m-o I can’t take this on blind faith. Not with so much smoke in the air, it’s media campaign is dubious, disingenuous and in the larger picture seemingly illogical.

Plus there’s the ‘conspiracies’. Biggest conspiracy is revelation but we move on to the next; Microsoft patent 666.... I bet that goes well with future editions of a vaccine passport or related proof of vaccination, who knows. Big money.

There we go with Bill again...

With all the protocols in place this should not be happening, and the question of why persons who have been vaccinated and may still spread the virus should not quarantine or isolate is beyond my logical ability. Probably some guidance/guidelines from above they never questioned the sense of.

We probably wouldn’t like the answer whatever it is. I can’t see it making sense to us the people however it is explained.

Remember a person can test negative before arrival, upon arrival and at 4-day testing, which would give them clearance to move about the Territory whike following all Covid protocols. That person can in the end test positive on their exit test which must be taken about 2 days or so before departure. If that person took the test early morning before the funeral results won't be known until later that afternoon or evening. So a person won't have to break quarantine to attend but breaking the Covid protocols of not wearing a mask, social distancing etc while attending the funeral while unknowingly being positive turns the event into a super spreader event.

Its important to ALWAYS wear a mask, social distance, wash and sanitize hands no matter what.

The impression was given that the tracking device would prohibit anyone form breaking quarantine.

    QUESTION:
ARE THE BRACELET FUNCTIONING? IF THEY WERE NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPEN.

The people who are not taking this vaccine are putting us all at risk. If someone told you to get a vaccine for dengue fever ore hepatitis everyone would get it - same with Covid 19 folks. We have been vaccinated since birth to stop us from dying so whats the difference now? My friend in the UK has been in hospital for 9 months and just about alive. There is only 1 hospital here with limited amount of beds. If you have the vaccine it will save your life, if you dont it cant it. Although if you are obese it may not as your body is already fighting just to survive every day.

Why you so worried if you’re already vaccinated by the infamous vaccine

If it’s that good the unvaccinated can’t hurt you

Is there a book of condolences from the funeral with name of the attendees? The police should be looking at it for all names - it had to be an outside who travelled into the BVI as there is no community spread.

nothing will come of this issue the culprit will not be charged and will simply slip away from the BVI just because of the connection
