WEST END, Tortola, VI- Paving has been completed on 4,000 linear feet of roadway in the West End area, and crews are now focused on finishing the sidewalks. The Ministry of Communications and Works expects to complete the sidewalk work by the end of the month.

According to the Government Information Service (GIS), the work is part of the Government of the Virgin Islands’ Nine-Mile Road Project, which improves the route between the West End Ferry Terminal and Road Town. The project includes upgrades to road infrastructure and related features to improve safety and travel conditions for road users.

In August, the Ministry advised that about 4,000 feet of roadway in the West End area known as “The Bluff” would be resurfaced, with construction carried out one lane at a time. Motorists were asked to reduce speed, exercise caution and follow directions from road personnel while work was underway.

James Todman Construction Limited was the sub-contractor for the paving works. Residents have applauded the pace of the work compared to other road projects ongoing in the territory.

The Ministry thanked the public for its patience as improvements continue, saying the work is intended to enhance road infrastructure and safety for all road users.
